But like I said I'm sure other drivers are happy there. Just wasn't what I wanted in a company

I got out of Elk Grove Village...but not without a fight with Pete. I was offered a 350 mile, 2 day run...asked for a -productive- run. They give me a different load. At 10am, they give me a Rockford load, that has to be picked up at 2100, and it is a 1.5 hour drive from where I am to the pick up...so he says 'take your break, but you have to be at the shipper on time for pu.' Ummmm, did we not learn math or how to tell time in 'dispatcher school?'. 1.5 + 10 = 11.5...or 1130. 1130 + 10 hours = 2130...+ a company forced 15 min pti...I can't legally do it...and since I started my day at 6 am...the pickup time is beyond my 14. After several less than cordial msg's back and forth...I dumped a 2 pager on him and his co-workers about constant freight issues, screwed up load planning, screwed up load info, and that if it weren't for us out here picking up the pieces, there wouldn't be a Crete...which would suit me fine, because if they're having this much trouble getting freight out of the Chicagoland area, and since I've been hearing 'short freight' for over a year now...we may as well be out of business...suddenly a load appeared. Pu in Neenah, deliver in Indy. WHY does it take such a bombardment of attitude to get these people moving?

Not sure...... I was once told by a former DM when I worked for celadon that the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I did see something I wouldn't have believed today. While rolling up US41, almost to Oshkosh, WI. I noticed a road block on the south bound lanes coming down the next hill. Two cops were holding up traffic. Then all at once both cops took off and stopped a 1/4 mile up the road on the shoulder, one cop jumped out of his car with his shotgun...and as I looked to see what he was going to shoot at, I saw what appeared to be a buffalo(or a bison) just dropping out of sight down the far side of their side of the road. I didn't see it real clear before it was below the edge of the road, but from what I saw, it was either a buffalo or a really large furry cow, moving pretty fast for a creature that large. About the time I got even with the cop, he was unloading several rounds in it's direction. I guess someone's winter freezer meat supply escaped and they were trying to keep it out of the road and had no other alternative.

I've heard that too, but honestly, if we worked as a team instead of us against them...this job wouldn't be so stressful. I mean, it's bad enough we have to deal with slow shippers, bad roads, construction trying to half-ashed fix the bad roads, 4-wheelers with their head up their seat cushion...plus a constant threat of rule changes from the government...the last thing we need is a fight with some no-driving cow tipper who wouldn't know what to do with a truck if he had to...

WHY does it take such a bombardment of attitude to get these people moving?

Because they could care less about you or anyone else that drives a truck for them. Unless you work in the Lincoln Palace you aint #### and never will be.
