Well, vacation is almost over. I found out that my A/M is a guy. I only found out when he called me at home. He started the conversation with an apology for calling during my time off, but he needed to know for sure that I was coming back out tomorrow. Much like what happened to 48 a while back...and he said he wanted to make sure I could handle the load they have for me tomorrow. Pick up in Palatka going to K/C for Monday...a 1250 mile run...THIS is the way things should work. This guy has his stuff together...it looks like I lucked out and got a good A/M for once...so that means he's going to be moving on soon since all the good ones move to a different department or move away from Crete. But I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts, and try not to screw it up from my end.

At Marietta. Told it will be **at least** Tuesday before my truck goes in the shop. Odd thing is...it idled all night last night, but I couldnt enjoy it because I kept waiting for it to shut down.
So...I may take home time now instead of next weekend.

Update....in the motel near the Marietta terminal for tonight. Told them I'd move my home time up a week, which puts me out five weeks next time as that time is already planned up. Crete kindly offered to pay for the room tonight so I wouldn't have to drive home until the morning. I did appreciate that.

I don't blame Crete for the issues these trucks are having. Every company that has these units is experiencing the same thing. I just hate to be down for five days...really didn't need that much time. But when I'm driving back the 240 miles from home to Marietta, I'll probably be singing a different tune....

I had a nice repower run from Amarillo to Chino, CA...hazmat so i had the 20 questions game to play but not bad. We had an issue with the del. time. Since the other guy's truck bit the dust and i already had a food warehouse delivery (oi vay! 5 hours to unload) I knew I wasn't gonna make on-time. the CSR and my AM were working on a new time but they forgot to keep me in the loop. Not much of a loop since the cons never replied to their emails. Fueled in Barstow, sent message; no reply. stopped in Hesperia, called, listened to jazz for 10 minutes and left. I got a preplan for back in Victorville if I could get unloaded. Anyway went on in, got unloaded in 30 minutes!! and tore those darn placards off the trailer. Sitting in Hesperia. had some good chow at the OUtpost cafe and heading to upstate OR for Monday del.! All in all a good four days despite the mis-haps

At Marietta, there was a brand-new, just-delivered PS+E. It had the Gen II OnGuard, and no cameras, anywhere.

Interesting. I guess some trucks get one thing, some get another?

Unfortunately Crete has been bitten by the 13-liter bug, which means that the newest PS+Es are still getting MaxxFarces, because Navistar only dropped the 15-liter MaxxFarce.

The one's we're getting are the pre-buy's. International still hasn't gotten EPA certification on the 13L with DPF. The 15's were the only one that were compliant. What I was told by my anonymous source is that they're getting Cascadia's w/DD13 in a mid-roof once the final Prostars are delivered. The camera trucks were a test run of trucks...maybe they'll save them for the bad boy's among us.

The icing on the cake is Ms. Tea sends a qcom (at 1830 Central...working late on a Friday) asking if I had an Oregon permit. Since I didn't I asked for one to be faxed(sent her the fax number) to the Pilot here in Hesperia. Sure enough! One was waiting for me. it made me feel better after having fought 30MPH crosswinds across NM, AZ and CA the last two days.

What's happened is I take all my 'home' time in California (haven't been back to where I 'live' in Florida since Thanksgiving). I took time off out here in May then i was hoping to go back East and get some loads with tighter times so I could run up the miles. But they've kept me out West the whole time - in my opinion just for their own convenience, circling the area where I would eventually take time off again (also I had to go to my review where I was chewed out big time and handed the multiple part warning alleging I was 'unprofessional' on the phone).

Yeah running up and down 97 in Oregon, through Nevada, Wyoming, Utah, I-5 in California have been some very easy stretches and sometimes beautiful scenery. But at least for me, the big drawback is that all the western loads they've given me (and I mean 100%) have had too much time on them. So in addition to the long breakdowns I've had, I'm still not getting as many miles as I could easily run.

i'm on home time right now with relatives in the Bay Area so I can go to a drum corps show at Stanford. It's weird because when I was in Salt Lake, I showed them how my fairing was crooked. I lucked out and they took it right in. They said the international shop hadn't even bolted it on in places. But when it came out of salt lake, I noticed immediately it was now almost touching the hood in the front. I asked them about it and they said it was the best they could do (so I don't fault them, they were very nice to me). I guess my truck was originally manufactured with misalignment. Anyways, it's gonna continue to rub in places and damage the fiberglass. I reported the situation to 'accidents', but then they wanted to make a big deal of it and I got the feeling they think I was trying to cover up some kind of accident or something. So if it's not one thing, it's another, lol.

*BTW, if you're going up 97 in Oregon and stop in that little truck stop in Madras, there is conveniently located a movie theater right next door. It was great!

I'm home now until at least Tuesday, which means Wednesday. I have to call the shop on Tuesday to check on any progress that may or may not have been made. Rented a car to get home...that was $175, including the necessary fuel-up. Gonna have to rent one going back....and I do not need this many days off right now.

But it's like this all over with these new battery-powered AC units. I've never seen so many trucks at Marietta as I did this morning.

Sitting in Albany, OR. I parked next to a Poly truck. He's been driving 15 years and 13 of them with Poly. I guess he's satisfied with them:biggrin_25525:
