Your original post about what they include to reach their lofty numbers is correct. In Deland they used to have a poster about what they add up, it also included the yearly contributions to the 401k and the profit sharing (fully vested, which takes 6 years). When I was a Shaffer driver, I ran hard making $0.73/mi and I grossed $93k (not counting profit sharing contributions).

I'm at just over 130k miles for the last 12 months running, and just over $100k. This includes accessories pay(stops, detention and vacation), but not my profit sharing or 401k. I usually probably stay out approximately 24 days at a time, but I get my hometime too. I think last year I was on the road around 300 days total.

You’re making $100,000 plus because you’re driving a lot more than the average driver. I tell these newbies who complain that they aren’t getting the higher pay companies advertise cause they want to be home 10-12 days a month. First thing I ask them is, “how many days off you taking?” Which is fine with many companies, but you aren’t gonna make 100,000 a year plus doing that. You’re averaging about 5.5 days. A month of home time.
You run about exactly how I do. Going forward in a year or so I might adjust and run less, but for now, I’m trying to build up my retirement etc.

September was 16 years here for me, I've done 126-130k every year I've been here, and i don't feel i am the hardest runner. I've had good asset managers, which helps. Might run a little harder after the holidays, I'm hoping to retire next fall.
