The 5/2 fleet isn't OTR, it's regional or dedicated. And, I think he said he made low $90's, not over $100. The recruiter and the company management are the ones claiming $100+ for half of the fleet. I must be running into the poor half because I don't think I have spoken to a single driver who grossed $100k+

See this is why I have a problem with the trucking industry and they’re advertising methods as a whole. This is very deceitful. Let’s say you’re in every day Joe hard-working truck driver making 75,000 a year at a company that you’re comfortable with. Do you think sometimes you could do a bit better, but meh, overall you’re familiar with the operation you’re at and you’re happy. Some fast talking Recruiter comes along with his spreadsheet and highlighted bulletins for talking points and tells you you can make $100,000 a year driving the same over here at Crete. The top 50% of our drivers All make over $100,000 a year now. So you decide to step outside your nice comfortable job making 75,000 a year because $25,000 a year an extra income talks to you. You go over the Crete, You end up running some tough crappy routes in and out of the Northeast. Not as good as where you were at. At the end of the year when you tally things up you made $78,000. You were more comfortable and familiar and you weren’t micromanaged at your old company. You miss it….But now you’re stuck. You’re pissed. Crete doesn’t care, you can move right along now, they got a year of service out of you.
This is what the Megas do. If they advertise that 50% of their top drivers are making $100,000 a year they should have to prove it. If they can’t they should face a class action lawsuit.JohnBoy, Bumper and motocross25 Thank this. -
Why you do your research and if you have a cdl and a clean record you are never stuck in a job...jethro712 Thanks this.

And this right here is why I stay in my comfort zone. Anything a recruiter says is nothing more than a sales pitch. I don’t need to make $100K a year, my wife does, I’m happy with my $85K-$90K a year, run the routes I want to run, and take 7 full days off every 3 weeks. These recruiters hate drivers like me, been out here far longer then they’ve been on this earth, my biggest concern, is making sure
I’m home every month for a week. If my company was to close up shop right now with me doing a reset in North Bend Washington, I’d be home by tomorrow night in South Florida, with a new job if I want, if not, I’d retire.Last edited: Mar 30, 2022
