Yeah, I'm not living in a truck for that kind of money.

From what I've see you guys post, your mileage pay is between .62 and .70, so for the sake of arguing, I'll put it at .67 for this calculation.

1,352 miles in 6 days = 225 miles per day
    .67 + .06 = .73 cpm

That's $164.25 a day. I'd tell them no on the helping out with Walmart as well. Not no, but #### no.

That needs to be .06 + $75.00 per trip min.

I'm not sure about Mankato, each Walmart fleet seems different, but the one time I helped out at the Cheyenne dc, I got a 600ish mile run and 2 900ish mile runs. Can't remember mileage pay as was a couple years and raises ago. Think before covid. But we also get stop pay for each store at $30 a stop. I hit 7 stores total. Was kinda interesting seeing some of the back roads in the rockies, but idk that I'd help anywhere than maybe north Platte. I don't think they deal with any major cities. Maybe Omaha and Wichita. Cheyenne hits Denver, Mankato hits Minneapolis/st Paul. Paul's valley I think deals with dfw area.

Then perhaps they should have a guaranteed daily minimum given the large fluctuation in miles for guys that volunteer to help out. I just don't see how they can take a guy off a regular OTR run that probably averages 400 - 500 miles per day down to 225 per day. That's not how you take care of a valued employee.

I'll let you in on a little secret...we're not valued employees...years ago drivers were told by the big boss that if they didn't like how things were done here, they were free to leave and they would have another butt in their seat after the next orientation class. And that they were an expendable commodity. This whole "Most Valuable Asset" crap is just a publicity 'feel good' ploy to keep the revolving door in recruiting spinning with new hires so they keep up with drivers leaving.

Maybe that’s why the push to recruit.
They need fresh fools to help at Walmart.

Okay, but the way they do things is one thing. As in its their operating policies, either accept them or not. I agree with the company there.

But it's an entirely different thing to take a driver off of their assigned position of OTR, and putting them temporarily on an account that doesn't pay them adequately due to only getting crumbs because the regulars get the good runs.

I see that as two different things, and thus why I would personally not do it after one bad experience of working for insufficient miles. If in good standing otherwise, I can't imagine they would say hit the road for rejecting going over to Walmart.

Working for Walmart even with proper pay must suck. I couldn't do it. Taking refrigerated goods to them as an OTR driver is enough for me.

Finishing my last Crude load of the night. I’ll have 13.5 hours at $37.50/hour + 4 drops @ $25 per drop. That comes to $606.25. If my place of employment was offering $164.25/day I would leave. I’ve worked at Crete and been put on Wal Mart detail. I did two days before telling them “we have a business relationship, not a favor relationship. Don’t ask me to do favors.” Be firm.

It’s really up to you. In life, you get what you tolerate, and what you tolerate is what you deserve.

I was up there for a week from 5/25-5/31. I think it was 8 trips, 11 stops and 2887 miles. 3 or 4 of the trips were less than 200 miles. With the extra stops and the extra $.05 I did fairly well, even though I was ready to go back otr. I don't mind helping at Mankato or N Platte
