Well, I made my delivery in Lebanon, TN, then picked up in Murfreesboro, TN and dropped this morning in Geneva, IL. They promptly offered me a load from Broadview, IL (off I-290 at rush hour) this morning that delivered in Lebanon, IL tomorrow evening. 250 miles or so over 2 days...if I even thought about taking it, I would have been mad about it...but I am scheduled for time off that is supposed to start today, so I did not take it. Next offer was from Rochelle, IL to Southaven, MS and a preplanned t-call in East St. Louis so I could head home from there. Got it and have already dropped it at the droplot in East St Louis. However since my 14 hour clock expired before I could get to Springfield, IL, I had to stop on the way and will get there in the morning. Won't be back until next Tuesday (8/12)...gonna spend the weekend in St. Louis with about 90 or so friends at a big BBQ. Happens every year at this time!

    have fun!

Man 0 man I hope this place gets their stuff together. I know my appt was not until 1530 but the lady said to come on in we should be able to work you in early. They didn't work me in early, heck they can't even load me on time. I went in to ask how far behind they were and the kid said it should be another hour or so. I told him what the lady said and he said she's either doing that or telling them to come back after 1400. Which is what time she leaves and this kid comes on...haha. Since my appt time got worked out to del. on Friday I have plenty of time to make it even if I didn't leave today but I was wanting to stop in Flagstaff again. Cry me a river! :biggrin_2553: I would file for detention but...haha well never mind

EDIT: I'm hoping they will just let me turn in my truck on Friday when I'm MT instead of running me this weekend?

I've seen four different brands of spaghetti sauce at this one place. Hahaha

I made to the streets of Bakersfield but no Dwight in sight. Man this place was a parade of trucks trying to get into the parking lot. I sneeked past most of them and hit the second entrance. I started to park twice but noticed an APU hanging on the side so I circled around again and found a nice spot between a couple of non-noisemakers.

I put pencil to paper and figured out how to stop at Flagstaff one last time but it means I have to stop at Tucumcari (yuck). Then the cons on Friday.

That reminds me. Do you know how Tucumcari got it's name? Back in the day there was an indian chief who had a daughter. She climbed that big ol mountain outside of town but was tired and couldn't make it back down. So the chief sent a brave up there to fetch her down. Well the chief's daughter was a plus size squaw so when the brave made it up there he hollar'd back for help. He shouted "two come carry" and that's how the town got it's name yeah yeah...scout's honor! :biggrin_25525:

I feel like I'm the only one posting in this thread :biggrin_2559:

Another fatality wreck on I40 just east of Barstow. I wished I hadn't looked over at the west bound lanes. There were a couple of tarps covering the bodies RIP.

Since this is my last load out west i thought I would treat myself to a hotel room at Little America...So much for thinking! I asked about a room and their CDL special "Sorry we just sold out of those rooms. We have a regular room for only $209" :biggrin_2551: Oh well free parking and a nice 77* for the high.

I stopped for my 30 and sent in a message about running me through the weekend. I told them that I was near home and didn't want to go too far. He sent back that they would try to find something out and back. I said "It wouldn't hurt my feelings if you just wanted to cut me loose after I MT out"

Well boys and girls, it's official. This is my last load with Crete! Adios amigos!

    #### this sucks. Had appointment last night in Bethlehem, PA at 2000. Got there at 1800. Kicked off property for being too early. Musikfest in Bethlehem so traffic back up on 22 for an hour. No place to park in that town without Barney Fife citing you. Went to Allentown Service Plaza. Dispatch told me not to go back because I'd be late do to traffic. Get up this morning. Dispatcher not happy but I did my job. Pissed at night dispatch. I'm told to go there at 1200. Kicked off again. Appointment is for 1600. Thanks for heads up. So back at SP waiting..

the strangest thing about leaving Crete is the way people look at you...mainly because you're smiling, or whistling and having a fun time....when you're all by yourself. Kinda an uneasy, but delightful feeling isn't it????

I slept in this morning, at 7:30 I saw the preplan they sent me at midnight, from Marietta to Marcy, NY. They voided it, as I was checking my hours. Would have been to tight on my 70.

I figured they'd send me to Marietta to get my b service , instead a load to Baton Rouge, I'll be 3,000 overdue for service when I deliver.

Bye Joe, don't be a stranger

I talked to my buddy today. The one that got me this gig. We both feel this is a good move for me. He's been with this company for 12 years and he's not the kind to put up with too much BS. He even said that one year's experience here and I could get something just about anywhere. I'm sure it will be just fine.

I'll be around. I will have so much free time I will be wanting to come make fun of you guys at least.

I'm more excited about the new gig than actually leaving. I will not miss sleeping at the truck stops one bit! I was surprised that not one person at Crete asked me why I was leaving. They just thanked me for my service and wanted me to know I could always come back. I guess they are used to people leaving for one reason or another.

EDIT: My last week here at Crete will be 4083 miles...haha
