The ol' I-40 got me this time. Highway shut down just east of Grants, NM. I missed the exit by 1/4 mile or I could have hit the back roads around it . Oh well i have plenty of company. The four wheelers are doing stupid stuff of course. I seen one go through the ditch and pointed west bound but was going backwards to get back to the exit ramp

 

At least you're going east. News reports say 1 eastbound lane open. Westbound still closed.

 

What Happened?

 

The news out of an Albuquerque news station says 3 big trucks decided to occupy the same space...1 fatality

Another wasted day spent unloading and loading, all for a load that is a whopping combined 474 miles.
They haven't started loading yet, I have 257 miles in today and 3 hours left on my 14.

 

624 miles today, 550 yesterday. Deliver in Grand Rapids in the morning,then I'm guessing up to Stanwood. I'll be at mid 2500s after delivery tomorrow.

 

it was pretty nasty! One truck pulling a tank was totally burned down to the ground but the tank was still in one piece so whatever was in it didn't explode. The dry van and tractor behind it was reduced to ashes. There was still some smoldering remnants of it's cargo smoking. The most bazaar thing was the auto transport. It climbed the side embankment, I figure 5 to 8 feet high, and was laid over on it's side and had thrown the cars around. The ones on the top were sitting beside the trailer in various states of uprightness and the ones on the bottom were all smashed up and trapped. I was stopped for almost 2 hours and the west bound stretched for a good ten miles I bet.

I was stuck over in the left lane because this minivan couldn't decided is she wanted to go or yell at her kids..haha So naturally the left lane was closed ahead and it was moving faster as it so often does. This Stevens guy was shooting me the finger but when I asked if he would let me in he gave me two fingers as for added emphasis. Well the pick up in front of him let me in. When we ...well when I passed the flagman he stopped the pick up behind me and the Stevens truck too. They were doing some investigating because I looked back for about 5 miles before saw anybody coming up behind me Good thing the Stevens guy didn't let me in

 

Been at the KC Terminal most of the day killing time. Deliver appt in Overland Park at 04:30 tomorrow.
