yeah its been crazy these past 10 months. they said if they didn't catch it, the likelihood of me making to this past summer was slim. if that aneurysm would have burst I would have been dead in like 10 minutes. But crete seems to be a good fit at this point in my career. just glad to be able to drive and support my family. 2 kids ages 8 and 4. the home weekly isn't too bad. Still going to be able to plan things etc....the equipment seems really good. I talked to a crete driver two weeks ago and thought hey give me your info and ill call them and use you for a referral. it worked and I got the guy 1000.00....

I think they changed my Quallcom, lately when it wakes up at night, even though I had the screen turned off, it restarts at full brightness.

and I swear I had the volume turned off, and last night, it woke me up telling me I had a message,

Mine has always been on bright mode when it wakes up, but the volume stays down. Maybe it knows about my short fuse when it comes to such matters....

it depends on who sends the message, and what priority they have it set for at their end...they can send a high priority or emergency level message and it over-rides the receiver's setting...unfortunately with Crete's fancy-schmancy qualcomm-thru-the-stereo speaker, you can't hang it out the window like you could in the old days, plus with the cell-based system, you can't block the signal with tin-foil or a metal bucket like you could with the old satellite systems. You can go into the settings and switch the sound to DIU speaker, then tape over it...but then you might miss an important message later on. As for the brightness, I use to have an old granny-rug under my cooler to keep the passenger seat clean, I just let it hang down in front of the q/c so when it did it's strobe light when it 1st starts up, I didn't see it in my dreams.

Do you guys actually hang your Qualcomm up at night..? I haven't used the stand thingy in months. Just put it face down and turn the radio off.

I have an old Qualcomm, doesn't talk, doesn't even beep. No elog. Just got a message from truck assignments and apparently it's about time to change. Must be a market for old trucks without annoying features.

This must be my month to get offered all the short loads. ...

if if everything works out, I'll get a reset right next to where Saw is replaying in a big theater on Halloween.

What is involved in the road test for new drivers? Do they allow you to float gears, or do you have to double clutch?

a road test is also referred to as a ride test. Another Crete driver rides with you while you drive around...just to make sure you're not some whack job that is out to kill someone once you're on your own...most of us float gears, so unless you get some anal retentive jerk riding along that insists you double clutch, no one would say anything as long as you don't run over anyone or anything. Over here at Poly we do one every year. The guy who rode with me was once an O/O for the Punkin Patch (Schneider). He said they had yearly tests as well, and even as an O/O they insisted that he double clutched...not sure why, if a driver can't shift without using a clutch, they can't shift using one...it''s just less moving parts to wear out floating.
