That's old info. I don't know where to find the chart for their new payscale, but it's up to 46 CPM now. I know it's 40 for a 1 year driver. It goes to 43 if you're willing to stay out 4 weeks (1 more than crete requires to make 43). Like I said, crete is the same, or within 1 or 2 cpm of USX right now, but USX allows inverters, doesn't feed drivers to Sleep Pointe and doesn't have a safety department that bends you over more often than a hooker in vegas.

I'm at Crete now, and I do think I make more money than I would if I were still at USX. Knowing what I do now though, I definitely wish I'd stayed there. Crete pays better than other carriers because THEY HAVE TO for you to put up with the BS they require.

All I'm trying to say is that our payscale isn't leagues ahead of the competition like it was last year.

US Xpress allows pets, a rider, 1,500 watt inverter installed for free, doesn't bother us about idling, we have Pre-Pass, we have all of the toll passes and we get to go our own route(toll road or not), select our own fuel stops, they aren't Sleep Apnea Nazis & our health insurance is head & shoulders better than Cretes.

Our Driver Tech is way better than Qualcomm. Plus, our companies app does just about everything the Driver Tech does. Which is really nice because it gives you FREE-DOM.

Crete has FREE-DOM but it's only as long as your CPAP hose. Strap on your leash & muzzle boys..... Cretes gonna take you for a ride. Now bow before Lord CPAP !

Crete may pay 1 or 2 cpm more but when you take into consideration all these other factors..... the overall work experience is better at US Xpress.

I sure like the fact you can have a dog. How is the miles at USX for a solo driver? I hear that Crete has very consistent miles. I drive to make money first, comfort and lifestyle second.

US Xpress is known as a team company but solo drivers do well here. We're a husband and wife team with a dedicated run. Don't really talk to other drivers.

If your in it for money..... become a trainer. You can easily make over 70k. I think that goes at any company really.

I am in it to make money, but ONLY as a solo driver. So I am interested in the best paying solo accounts. I refuse to live with another man in a truck for any reason. Teaming with wife is only exception. I think a married couple can make a great living.

    TruckDuo Thanks this.

On holidays when the Walmart drivers are off, other companies pop in and deliver to stores.

I did it once, had to go to orientation and then dispatched in person or by phone from the DC.
It paid like $150 or $175 a day, or mileage, if that was more.

I didn't care for it and turned it down when offered it again.

So you would load at a DC and then live unload at a retail store? What kind of mileage each day? Doesn't that pay seem like it really isn't an incentive to help out Walmart? What incentive is there?

It depends on the d/c whether or not it's a live unload or a drop/hook. The grocery/reefer loads are live, the dry loads you simply put the bills in the handle of the roll up door and back it in, then hook to the empty right next to it.

When I was there, I did it 2x. Once got screwed out of a full days pay until I had my VP intervention meeting, then they only paid me 1/2 of what I was owed. The 2nd time I was only on it a day or two before wally ran out of freight. The pay isn't bad considering you don't have to deal with the yutz's in Lincoln until you are done, and most of the time you deliver then deadhead straight back to the d/c. No sitting there waiting on the q/comm to beep for your next load. You call Wally, they say come back, you show back up and they hand you another load. I was always treated decent by the staff at the d/c's except we aren't allowed to use their showers or park for a break on their yard. It's one of those "beats sitting for days" type loads
