I made the unfortunate choice of staying at the peetro in Jackson MS last night. Dirty, muddy, trashy parking lot with huge potholes. When I went in nothing was stocked. The only hot food the had was hotdogs at 0730 am. So I had me a bag of beef jerky because I convinced myself that the hotdogs weren't as nutritional as it was and got on the road. Then 260 miles later at my fuel stop I walked in to get a subway and that's when the church bus had just unloaded and about 50 people took over the entire place. No pizza, no subway. No hotdogs. I hate when I run out of food in the truck near home time and have to rely on truckstop. I'm gonna buy a bigger supply this time.

There must be a fuel stop that sucks more then the Troutville VA Pilot. I just can't remember one.

Onadetour,
You won't have to worry about Troutville, Va anymore, it's closed for good -
only the T/A closed, unless the Peelot closed in the last few weeks. I went by there a couple weeks ago and it was still open.
-
I have to agree...the Peelots south of Jacksonville, FL and in Denver run a close 2nd

The Pilot on the northeast side of Atlanta off 285 (exit 16 iirc) is the worst I've been to. Fortunatley, it was condemned recently by the health department, and torn down. Apparently they found that the place was infested with rats and roaches, among a whole host of other problems. Good riddance, one less ######-### Crete fuel stop to have to worry about. Of course, if I got that for a fuel solution, I just went to the Marietta terminal and got fuel there, screw it.
I did the 8/2 split for the first time today. I feel like a REAL trucker now!tucker Thanks this. -
For what it's worth my 3rd west coast run since I started driving in 2012 was fairly productive. Had a five day stretch where I went over 500 miles a day. But it was book ended with days where I only averaged a little over 250 miles per day. One day had a flat on a trailer. Most of the Crete drivers I talked to weren't even from out west but were from Marietta or Indy. I wonder if freight is picking up out there and they are just grabbing anybody they can?

2 weeks ago I went from Georgia to California. Then Cali to Illinois. So you might be right. I hope to get more runs like that.Astoh Thanks this.

Does Crete allow you to do an 8/2 split?I think it used to be forbidden.
