Why don't you just take it easy and run recaps. 8.75 hours a day on duty, usually means 8 or less hours driving a day. You can still get good miles on recaps.

I so have to get this tire fixed, it was low agAIn today. I was going to buy a new tire guage today, but the TA in Janesville only had one kind and it was painted black.
Those kind rarely work. -
Thanks for the kind words/advice guys.
Unfortunately the hits just keep on coming. Tonight my truck decided to start dumping DEF all over the ground. Fun times. -
as far as advice on a family member with Alzheimer's, I can't offer much...thankfully that's one thing nobody in my or my wife's family has had to deal with. As far as dealing with the down moods, I have plenty of personal experience. This time of year is especially tough, without having to carry the extra stress of an ill family member. Winter time and it's lack of sunlight gives many the winter blues...
after losing my mom over 25 years ago, I found that keeping your mind otherwise occupied keeps you from dwelling on your problems and deepening your down mood...either reading a book, watching tv, or some sort of activity that requires concentration does wonders. I used the same thing when my dad died in '97...keeping busy helps. This time of year with seasonally slow freight doesn't help. Not long after my dad died, I bought an electric and a normal guitar...I kept the regular guitar in the truck and tried to learn to play it (without success...my fingers are too large and pudgy)...but trying to learn took my mind off my troubles for a while. I also use to keep about a gig or two of music on my phone's sdcard and played it on random before I went to bed. Something about music soothes the soul.
Back when I was a religious person, my preacher had advice about troubled times...only be concerned about what problems you can solve and don't dwell on the one's you can't solve...Last edited: Mar 1, 2015

A Crappy 3 days .....picked up a 247 mile load Fri morning south of Dallas delivering before 1500 same day in OKC, got stuck in the Dallas snow/traffic and never made in out of TX Fri.....So I sit until Mon when Cons opens up....UGHHHH

Tell me about it. I delivered in Ft. Worth Friday morning and had to deadhead in that crap to Grand Prairie. 29 miles, 3 1/2 hours. Then almost got stuck a couple times bob-tailing around Poly's yard Saturday after the 1/2 inch of light freezing drizzle hit overnight (at least that is how much ice I had on my step and 5th wheel)Wild Murphy Thanks this.

The entire state of Missouri sucks today. Freezing rain all morning and now that the plows have helped make it a little better everyone is driving like its a nice summer day. That pileup on 44 yesterday looked horrendous.

Anyone deal with Russ from dispatch. Useless as tits on a boy...

Whats an average weekly mile amount for you guys? Samantha from recruiting has told me about 2500 to 2700. I understand a 400 watt inverter is the max ( I have a cpap) so I'm assuming no microwave or coffee pot, etc. I'm basically concerned the higher pay rate would be "eaten up" at the TS. Anybody using a butane burner to cook on? 12V cooler?

The miles are right. I am on a good stretch here averaging a little more. The only time I have waited even an hour is on weekend. I am hearing Crete is turning down a ton of freight. Crete needs more drivers.
