No question, and I agree with you. If I were an O/O, I’d never have them. I like to easily see the wheels.

Went into a truck with 9k on it. 6k later got pulled around back at the I29 scale in northern Missouri. Oil everywhere on a drive. I popped the hub cover off. I took the bolts out with almost no effort with channel locks and some just with my fingers, pulled the axle before the mechanic arrived. No seal. I had the mechanic check the other 3 and they were torqued. The hub covers did not go back on. No way to check the axle bolts with those hub covers on.

1 gallon saved per truck a day...times 5000 trucks in fleet...equal $15,000 a day / $5.4 million a year more profit. .at $3 a gallon fuel cost...or enough to pay Tuckers bar tab for life....maybe

If they were that serious about saving that amount of fuel, they wouldn't have turned the trucks back up to 65.

They can’t save that much in actual everyday use. New drivers will use more fuel, hills and mountains will use more fuel. I’d like to see a study showing how much wind resistance there is with the drive axles.

Vic Firth and Speed_Drums Thank this.

I've been told maybe .1 of a mile which really don't amount to much in comparison to cost of it...

Since Crete turned trucks up to 65mpn...speeding tickets have increased a lot..get a speeding ticket now...your truck is turned down to 62mph again ....for 90 days

Last week got a little over 2800 with two loads. If you "love your job but just hate the people", thats the kind of week you want. First load had a little bit of time on it and stopped to visit a relative for an afternoon. Second load had to be rescheduled from AM to PM for delivery near Philly due to traffic. Just sent message with ETA and CSR sent new appoinment time. There was a time when I was asked why I accepted load and reason for appointment change but haven't had that happen for awhile.
