I am national. Up until April, I was running slow(not just because of the slow season - unless slow season starts in July), but things are picking up. April I didn't see a week under 2500, and between 4/24 and 5/11 I turned 8100 miles. Was bumping 70 all the time. I have had less wait time for loads, and more multi-load offers than I have ever seen. It has something to do with the new pet policy. I was talking to some of the folks in New Kingstown. They said that company wide (all 3 divisions) they have lost 30% of the driving force. They are having 25 - 30 drivers per terminal quit each week. And to top it off, the new drivers that are starting in their place, are starting at a lower pay. And I also have heard talk that they are going to turn the trucks down like Swift, Schneider and CFI-Conway (Conway truckload div turned to 65, LTL down to 62). So we can expect to see even more drivers leaving.

Over all, with this economic drop, and price of fuel going ever upward. I have eased off on the anti-Crete attitude. I have seen many other companys where the drivers are much worse off than us. At least here, even a slow week isn't that bad of a paycheck, the paycheck is always good, and the company has no debt, so it can endure a lot before it even starts to make a dent in the company's bank account. Besides, my wife reminded me of all the financial crap we went through with the recession(slow down) after 9/11. (yea, you're right, she cracked the whip, and I meowed) :icon_cat::smt079

I am considering Crete as a driver. I want to work SE, but I have to go OTR with trainer first. I do not mind that.

I like what they have to offer.

Any women out there who work for Crete??:biggrin_25516:

I would avoid this place(Crete). Things looked like they were going to improve, but things have changed drastically. This year as of the end of Oct. I have had 5 months under 10k., and 2 of those 5 were under 9k. They claim they are short on freight, but constantly bug us to improve our recruiting skills in order to keep hiring levels up. And are also hunting for trainers. If they are so short on freight, why would they need to keep hiring? If you are thinking about working here, do what I am doing, look elsewhere...they are two faced hypocrites that'll screw over anyone to make a buck.

Just to give you the other side of the story. Yes freight has slowed down lately, but I am still getting solid miles and have never had a month under 10,000.

We love SuperSnackbar here on this board, but he tends to get a little crabby every once in awhile.

Crete's been an extremely good company to me and I find the miles are here if you are willing to work.

I have to take issue with your statement about me sir.... Since when haven't I been crabby:mlaugh:(Oh wait, I did have that creepy few weeks a while back where I had nothing but good things to say.... sorry. But they found a cure for that.) But wait, I thought I was a grumpy old fart... It won't be long until I am standing in my front yard in my Bermuda's wearing black socks and sandals, yelling at the kids to get off my lawn, turn down that loud music....and slow down, your not qualifying for nascar...... (Disclaimer for all my critics: I was joking in the previous statement -- not to be confused with me being sarcastic. Please don't be offended...lord knows we wouldn't want to hurt your feelings(see the difference))

BTW if anyone is wondering, I graduated in Ohio where I majored in A'hole with a minor in grumpy, complaining, and sarcasm ....You can't say I am wasting my education now can we?:biggrin_25525:

I have since learned that discrimination based on age is illegal, and since you are so old I didn't want to chance the possibility of offending and chose to go with the more acceptable and to revert to the term "crabby", although your self proclaimed degree in A'holism does seem to be more applicable.:biggrin_25525:

I thought about taking a class in college for "A'HOLE" but I couldnt afford it, plus I'm out on the road to long, so I cant legally be an "A HOLE". But its never stopped others from calling me one! :biggrin_25526:

That was the one 'perk' about living in that state....It's a freebie...well sorta'... the high state income taxes pay for it. Got my education, and got the -bleep- out.:yes2557:. It's a darn shame that there's so much freight that comes out or through there...Keep having flashbacks.....:biggrin_2551:
