If he did "Go flip hamburgers at burger king", he would make more money per hour than an OTR job pays.

I'm sure in this economy, that companies are more alike than we all want to admit. However my experience at Crete has been in large a good one. I also started as a newbie with the company. My expectations were obviously not to the level of badabing's. When you first start, everything does not always work perfectly, but I have never had a job where they did.
As for the posters complaints, these are things that are standard with most companies. In fact, taking advances that cost you nothing to pay for company expenses while on the road doesn't seem to be a bad thing. I have never had an issue with a paycheck or reimbursements for things I did pay for. The miles are as good as can be expected in these times, and the pay is above most companies.
I hope this is not taken as a slam, but I don't think the original poster really knew what he was getting into.
My fleet manager and staff have always been very helpful. I even get personally signed b'day and xmas cards from them for whatever that's worth.
I hope the original poster sticks it out for a while, as job hopping just doesn't work, and I'm afraid he'll see that the grass was not greener.
    Best of luck!:biggrin_25519:

I have had two relatives and several friends work for them and they all have said really good things about them. I think you were right in saying that the poster is just inexperienced and didn't know what he was getting into. Doesn't sound out of the norm to me.

You really don't have a clue do you? Of course they're gonna take taxes out of it, are you kidding me? You think they're just slide you a G under the table? WOW!!! Wake up. And for someone that has as little experience in the "business" as you do you sure know an awful lot of the ins and outs and inner workings of the trucking business.

I was a contractor leased to Crete for quite a few years. I made a good living, and enjoyed both working for and with the folks at Crete. I lived in my truck, so home time was never an issue, I know of others who had trouble getting home, but always managed it. I had no problem worjing with the company drivers, and by the amount of drivers I knew, they did not have a problem with me. I did how ever have part time problems with weekend dispatch, the ultimate reason I left. Overall, it was a very positive experience working there, and I would consider putting my truck on there again.
I hope you all had a good holiday. I wish you all Safe Miles, and a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Funny how all the posters that say how they loved a certain company, describe them as fantastic, friendly, talk about how they made good money, are not there anymore.

The post always starts out, "When I was with......"

    "When I worked for...."

    "My time with..."

But when you ask them why they left:

    "Medical issues"

    "Family issues"

    "Lost dedicated account"

    "Got a local job"

    "Got a better job"

I guess they are all just going from one "fantastic" job to another "fantastic" job.

Well you know that some people do have medical issues come up time to time not saying everyone does but there are people that do.

And the reason your profile states Trucker-ex-9 years?

    Please don't be a hypocrite.
