40000 miles after changing main bearings truck started to consume a lot of oil. It used to be 1.5-2 gallons between oil change and now is 5-6 gallons. There is a small leak from the head , however no oil on the ground at all
Any advise will be greatly appreciated
Cummins ISX 475 with 980000 miles is using a lot of oil......

sounds like its wore out
-
What do you mean ? What is wore out?
-
4-5 gallons between oil changes? I'd just stop changing the oil and swap filters every 15-20k.
-
Piston rings or turbo or valve seals...
-
Time for an overhaul before it spits a rod out the side of the block.
-
We just put a cummins recon in our at 780,000 kms
-
Could be front seal leaking
-
If it was front main seal he would see it leakon the ground...
-
980,000 miles and your wondering why its using oil now????
Its done. Time for an inframe or with that kind milage a recon engine wouldnt be a bad choice either.
Around thses parts guys with isx are only getting about 5-6 hundred thousand out those engines. Start useing oil or spit a con rod.
Id say you did fantastic.!GMB Thanks this.
