Central Florida? New CDL holder? Below I-4?
BIG MISTAKE.
Take a starter job with Swift -- running loads based out of their Ocala terminal (IF you can get it).
Otherwise -- may God have mercy on your soul....

Florida is gonna pay you in sunshine, if at all.
tscottme and nextgentrucker Thank this. -
Knight Transportation just hired a driver in Central Florida, right out of cdl school.
Knight has accounts all over Florida.
Contact a recruiter and ask what's available for drivers that live in Winterhaven.

Fresh out of school huh? Why don’t you look for a yard jockey job it will sharpen your backing skills. Many drivers out here struggle big time to even back into a dock or a parking spot at the truck stop. Or look for a local P& D job with companies like Estes, or R&L .
tscottme, Nashville and nextgentrucker Thank this. -
It'll become easier to find work once you gain some experience. The idea is to look for companies based in Florida, or companies that have a presence in Florida, and that takes extensive research. Most companies will go into Florida periodically, but it's very infrequent. Right out the gate, if there is a taker, go for it and get behind the wheel experience. I'm going to tell you how bad most companies dislike the Sunshine State....in 16 years of driving, I have not even delivered a load in Florida even 10 times. I'm in Orlando now, this makes 9. I'm in my 6th year with my current company, and this is only the 3rd load I've taken to Florida since working for them. So make sure you pay attention to each company's running lanes.
tscottme and nextgentrucker Thank this.
