Sounds like you have a pretty good handle on it. We only have 3 trucks but we done work for the public before the trucks were bought. my son and I do our own work cause the shop hands stay so busy. I will stay home and do 90 percent of the engine overhauls or meticulous stuff for our customers. the gears we just pull them and send them out. I have done them but the gear shop I use can have them done before I gather up all my stuff to do them, makes a difference when that's all you do. There warranty covers our labor of pull and reinstall to which makes a difference to our customers.

How many trucks do you have if you don't have 10-15 trucks it would be cheaper to get truck fixed then have full time mechanic

I have a friend locally that employs a full time mechanic in a small shop he leases. The mechanic also does 24/7 road service and tires to keep busy.

The guy has 6 trucks now. Seems to work for him.

That may require a different type of license. Different type of insurance too as it is for hire if I'm thinking properly.
