We just got a 1,000 gallon tank for ours at work. Of course it's day cab work, so we are there every day. What I would suggest though is get one of those 2.5 gallon totes and put it in your side box. When you fuel simply top off the def every few fuelings. Every 6 months or so empty that 2.5 gallon jug in your truck and refill it from the pump. Stuff does have a shelf life of one to two years (depending on storage temps)
So, we've had DEF for 7 years now. You must think you know the industry/your profession quite well, as you bought your own truck. Yet, your asking where the best place to buy DEF is? Something tells me you don't know your industry all that well... good luck
As a driver I didn't have a chance to drive just old trucks without def. and the reason I'm asking is that after filling the def tank with Blue def Check Engine light is on. Engine ECU SPN 5443 FMI 7
I'd have to agree with him. Don't you fuel at a truck stop? Have you never noticed the fuel/def prompt when fueling? Haven't you noticed the def nozzle next to the fuel pump?
You'll never know the industry coz it keeps changing. I just wanted to get my truck to keep it nice and clean. Basically the truck is my second home if not the first)))
My in-laws own a Mercedes RV. They have run it low on def several times. When the check engine light comes on, however, they have to get it reset.
My former employer purchased a new peterbilt a year ago, when we asked the service manager about d.e.f he suggested not to purchase it from the pump. He had a few trucks come through with emission issues ( both Cummins and paccar) due to the d.e.f being contaminated by the nozzles at the truck stops.
