That’s not a bad idea. A friend of mine parents own a salvage yard and I was having him look for dry van trailers.

People are also buying older tractors that are sitting in peoples yards. Maybe get one for $5G or less because the people don't know what its really worth and just happy to get rid of it.

I know a guy that bought a 53' dry van that he saw in a farm/ranch auction magazine. Looked at it and the guy said he can have it for $1700.00
He aired the tires and took it home. Filthy and moldy inside and out. When he cleaned it, it looks almost new. He uses it for OTR work.

Look at farm & ranch auctions and maybe find trailers and tractors for good deals.
Same guy also bought a livestock trailer that needed repair, so instead of repairing it, he took apart and sold it for scrap. Lots of aluminum in that trailer Made a big profit on that one.

West Can up here used to have hundreds of Louisvilles. They did a lot of industrial/ice road fuel hauls and bent up a bunch of them in the process. They built a lot of trucks out of parts from crash victims.
