I haven't done this route but i am wondering if I should take I75 all the way down and cut off or take I77. Which route do you all suggest is best?

77 is a few miles out of route, and you have tolls in West Virginia and an extremely disastrous construction zone just north of Charlotte to deal with.

Save yourself the headache. Take 75 to 40 to 26 to 85.

77 is shortest but for the extra 20 miles I would run 75 to exit 29 in ky. Run 25e to Morristown 81 south 8 miles to 40 e to 26 to 85. Really only pull you will have it clinch mountain and it's short going south. Saluda is all downhill eastbound and the gorge is just a curvy scenic route.
