Im thinking about driving for Swift. I live in OKC. Do you know how the freight runs through this area. Any dedicated accounts in or around OKC? Thanks

Three years ago when I trained in Millington day 1 there were 99 people. By the time we started the "class" portion there were like 75-80. When I reached orientation there were 21..I think 9 had drove for other companies...So three days of that then waited a week for a mentor. Of course that was three years ago. The funny part was how many showed up that didn't think there would be a drug test... Watching them try to test using those drug store test kits... Trying those "I had a friend who" drank this or that,, but to no avail..they had to go home and not collect $200.

Last I knew quite a bit of freight moves over I-40... So you would have quite a few options running out of the OKC terminal. Small terminal EXCELLENT showers. Good shop. Fuel pumps kinda slow...at least they were, been awhile since I've been for a vist.

Well I know with Roehl.. they verify everything before they pencil you in for that date PLUS get you in a physical before you even arrive.. so far they are very organized..straight forward with what is expected and what they will do along the process.. What you will do when you ARE accepted, is do your physical test with them and maybe the drug test (not sure if thats included with the dot physical)..(not even one ounce should you be second guessing if you would pass a drug test!) I dont understand the confussion when it comes to this subject..ANOTHER NO BRAINER IN MY BOOK!.. DO DRUGS? NO TRUCKING FOR YOU PERIOD!!!JustSonny Thanks this.

Good luck with Roehl! They get some good reports here, should be a good experience.

I had to waste a couple days in Phoenix because the shop was behind, but eventually everything was fixed and I got back out of the desert. They had me run a load that had been T-called in Phoenix and was supposed to deliver last night in Pueblo, CO (pd miles- 722). There was no way a solo driver was getting that done ontime, though, so they told me to just get it here ASAP. Mother Nature was set against me, it seemed, because there were dust storms and accidents along I40 yesterday. I was wasting so much time, I just shut down figuring the mess would be cleared up this morning. It was, but it was also snowing
. I got the load delivered eventually, and now I'm at the Rocky Mountain Travel Center where I had a much needed shower and some fantastic enchiladas
.
No preplan yet.JustSonny and Rattlebunny Thank this. -
Just got a preplan. It picks up in Denver (I'll go get it tomorrow morning) and delivers in Elkton, VA anytime before May 5th at 0500. Miles- 1674.
Rattlebunny and JustSonny Thank this. -
Not bad for miles with some time in between. If it was me, I would try to squeeze a 34 in it or get it delivered early.

Is this a situation where you can opt to do as RookieTrucker suggested or deliver ASAP and get another load earlier than May 5? Just curious about how this works in the real world. Thanks!
