My DM sometimes doesn't answer the phone, too busy! I go weeks without talking to her. Other drivers drive her nuts.
ok cool...cuz im so use to no clutching with this truck ive been driving for the past 7 months lol. so i was just curious if they would frown on that or not. i know i asked this before but i asked again just to see if i got somebody else's opinion. thanks
I drove a Swift truck for three years, all 48 states. Solo as well as team. In that time not 1 service failure. Does not mean I was always at customer at time according to load assignment. I just made use of the Macro 22, EVERY time. Send it as SOON as possible when you are going to be late. Reason, the time you send the message will be time stamped. If you are going to be late to next stop due to delays by customer, then by all means send Macro 22 as soon as you realize this. If you continue to receive FLAK, which has happen to me, I sent this message, "I'm sorry but you will need to contact the customer to resolve this issue, I was at stop 1 on time." In short don't let them push you around, I once sortta fired the Columbus Terminal, but thats another story. I drive for AD Transport Express now, the difference is like night and day, plus 68 MPH is a GOOD thing. Well good luck to ya' and remember NEVER let someone who sits behind a desk try to drive YOUR truck!
I was talking with a planner a few months back and he said there was no need to white out the red zero. Just overwrite a 1 on top of it. Speaking of logs, I was thinking of taking one down to Kinkos and printing out a few thousand of them. That's all Swift did with the loose leafs but they shrunk them just enough to get two on one page. I don't think two full size log pages will fit on a 8x11 piece of paper otherwise I might try that.
Well, I got the rest of the Costco load delivered on Wed morning, then ran up to Oxnard to get the P&G load going to Neelys, MO. Swift had me routed along I40 to I44 up to St Louis, then down I55 to Neelys. I thought this was a little silly when I first saw it. I was in New Mexico trying to figure out if I could spend Friday night in Oklahoma City and still get to Neelys by Saturday night. REDD was running the numbers for me (I was driving) and he figured out that it saved 120 miles to get off I44 at Springfield and run US60 over to Sikeston and then go north on I55 to Neelys. So I ran US60 instead. It's a really good road, 4 lane all the way, usually 65mph speed limit, and very few stoplights. I have a point to this. Swift routing is only a suggestion, not a requirement. And the route they give is generated by a computer. It is not always the best route, or the shortest, or the fastest. I was fortunate that I already had excellent map reading skills before I started trucking (thank you Mommy). For those of you wanting to be truckers who may not have those skills, take some time to develop them. Blindly following the routing given to you is bound to waste some of your time. Much better to spend a little time with a map than to drive needlessly out of your way. And back to the main thread- I delivered at P&G last night and bobtailed out. I was scheduled to pick up there this morning, and there's no reason to grab an empty trailer just to turn around and bring it back. The load I was picking up today wasn't ready when it was supposed to be- it was actually 4 hours late- but I did eventually get it. I'm going to London, KY (pd miles 381) and have until midnight Tuesday to deliver. I'm planning to take tomorrow off, get a 34hr restart, then deliver Tuesday early afternoon.
She does run solo! Digital telecommunications is a great invention & someday I hope it will catch on!
Yes, I admit it, I talk on the phone while driving. I don't see the difference between having a phone conversation (with a headset) and having a conversation with someone sitting in the passenger seat or on the CB. P.S. REDD, you're a smart ### - I like it. I'm sure you didn't want the false rumor going around that a big manly man like you drives for ***GASP**** Swift
