Every time someone of cellebrity status disappears, and never comes back, someone or multiple someones keeps on looking to resolve the disappearance.
I hope they do find something of her, but it really doesn't matter much, anymore.Last edited: Dec 17, 2010

In William Manchester's book, "Goodbye Darkness", he speculates that the Japanese beheaded her when she landed on one of the islands they had taken over and had installed gun emplacements and communications.

It's an interesting twist. We'll find out when the DNA test come back. Kind of hard for someone to end up on a deserted island other than some kind of a wreck.
When I lived in FL, I worked with a guy that spent all his free time researching and looking for this lost squadron off the coast of FL. Many thought of the Bermuda triangle or they lost orientation in the air. It was big news back then. He was a nice guy but I thought he was a little whacked.
I'll be darned if I didn't see him on TV about 10 years later. He found the planes off the coast several miles right were he thought they were. They did get disoriented and run out of fuel. It was some PrimeTime show. I forget which one now. Seems like William Shattner was narrating it.
Edited, I remember now...Unsolved Mysteries is what he was on. Turned out the whacked guy was super intelligent. -
hey! I remember watching that episode! He was a man with a passion.

Yeah, when I met him in 1986, he was like 7 years into his search. We made about $9 an hour back then and he spent every penny on his quest. That's all he talked about at work. He must of got investers when he found the squadron because the TV show showed a large ship and they recovered the planes. I hope it made him rich.
Now I'm stuck trying to remember his name. John something. I hate that!Texas-Nana Thanks this. -
I've always thought the Amelia Earhart story was fascinating in a morbid sort of way, but I think they found her years ago and the dipshnit doctor that had her bones first bungled his report and then lost the bones.
This new stuff they found appears to be in the same area that first skeleton was found and definitely gives credence to the idea that she did not die in a crash, but rather ended up a castaway somewhere.
Definitely an interesting story. -
