If I ever become an o/o, I was thinking perhaps I could still drive for my company until everything is setup so I could just put in my two weeks notice to quit and start driving on my own without much downtime?

Take 6 months off in Fiji in between. Relax and rest upon your laurels before the easy part begins.

You could do that. It is better than buying everything with no job to cover the bills. But if you are otr, that may be a challenge.

that's how I did it, bought my tractor in TN. on a trip going west came back 4 months later to pick it up on a weekend off and drove it home, on the way stopped buy to look at a trl. that I purchased and hooked to it and drove the combo. home. sat on my property for over a year before I put it into service.

once I quit my starter company I got my authority and everything all Legal then went truck'in.
