Did you keep a memento from your first solo load?

Went to Delaware. Some nice lady driver with like 7 cats in a Classic XL, let me use her bolt cutters.

I remember being on the road about an hour going "Alright, I've made about $50."
Right then a rock hit the passenger side windshield.
Then I remember thinking "Awe F, I'm in the hole $100."

Just remember it .... one reason is because that particular load was on a route where someone does his dedicated load with a BJ and the Bear k100 cab over truck & trailer. Heard that it wasnt a replica but one of the originals they used on the show. It was along the 126 beteeen highway 101 and the 5 Ventura and Santa Clarita CA so very close to Hollywood. Funny , funny the memories we hold onto.

First solo run? Take a load outta Hazleton, PA up to Lewiston, ME Walmart DC. Man, when that preplan and dispatch came across the qualcomm I thought it was the cats meow.

I know its cheesy but I felt like, Here we go baby! Were trucking now!

I still have my first year of BOLs and cat scales. It was a great first year now that I look back on it. 6 years later.... still grabbing gears and mashing the throttle.

Ha! You bunch of sentimental sallies!

I just save the stories, and they embellish with time.

I don't have anything but a memory. Nightmare at the time but today I see it for what it was. A step into becoming a trucker. If I can find the dock on a satellite map later I will show why it was a nightmare.

Edited to add the screenshot I spoke of. On the screenshot you will see an arrow a long line and a short line. The arrow is pointing to the door I was instructed to back into. The long line is why it was difficult and the short line is where some warehouse employees parked their personal vehicles. It was impossible to do the proper setup and I took I bet almost 25 minutes to get in that door. Today I could grease that in with maybe one pull up. That day was my first time alone.
