No more than bulk DEF costs, and no bigger than most DEF tanks are, I think I'd start by trying a siphon hose and refilling the tank from a different source. If you didn't want to fill it, then a 2 gallon jug of bottled DEF would answer the question if it was really bad DEF or not. the That'd almost certainly be cheaper than a trip to a dealership and quicker too. If code goes away, problem solved. If not, you can have the dealer start looking at wires or sensors.
snowlauncher, albert l and 48Packard Thank this. -
I had the same message come up after filling with DEF at a pilot..I have a T680 as well.
It was cold as hell that day..20 minutes later it went off.
Hasn't been back since.
I'm thinking the DEF crystalized on one of the sensors when I was filling..once it warmed up everything was ok. -
I filled up with DEF at the Coffee Cup travel Center in Steele, ND Thursday Morning. I can't believe the pump/hose wasn't froze solid, as it was -18F actual temp.

So I was like 10 miles away from the dealer.. I hit a small bump and there's red flashes on my dash and even saw a code say "limp" something and then ALL the check engine and DEF codes went away.
Now I have no codes or check engine light and I'm wondering WTF. Go figure lol.
Dunno if I'm good to go or once I drive past the dealer the codes will show up again lmao. -
Good luck, just in general our experience with the new 680 has been pretty terrible lol thank god we are company.. our first truck lost a fuel pump at 10,000 miles, Emissions related garbage at 70k, lost a ac compressor at 90k.. they switched us to a different 680.. this one had 45k on it at 100k it lost the ac compressor and now at 120k we are down over emissions again.. many other small problems from water leaking around the clearance lights to the headlights not working I just listed the 3+ day breakdowns..

I hope you get it squared away pards...... Best of luck!

We filled up in KY.
Check engine code came on, later a message; poor quality DEF detected.
Park regeneración requested.
We parked and regen, my husband emptied the full DEF tank. Added fresh DEF till full.
We are back on the road.
I called store 392 asked for a manager to explain the situation. All he said was OK?
I explained to him the severity of the issue for us.
From breakdown to towing to late delivery and of course loss of revenue.
I escalated the called to their Corporate office which took notes. She asked me for our pilot reward number. Said; I've sent this to the team; she asked me for my number, thank me and that was the end of it.
I am not looking for a big fuss unless damage to the DPF has been done by their poor quality DEF. -
I didn’t even know that was a problem. I haul def. never had a problem with it from any of the numerous plants I go to. I use it in my own truck too.
They must be buying some bs def or maybe they bought so much for a discount it sat more than like two years. Who knows...
I will say def looks different depending where I get a load.
Sometimes I can see crystal clear all the way to the bottom of my tank other times it’s murky, never had a problem with either though.Grubby Thanks this. -
I hate when I start reading a thread and forget to look at the date.
2yrs old,lol.Grubby, Rolling18 and SingingWolf Thank this.
