Anyone can read an atlas or use a GPS to get to a town but what do you use once there to determine the best route? Dispatch isn't always quick if ever about sending directions so what do you use?

Try to get the receiver's number and give them a call asking how to get to their facility. I usually do that that on the bigger cities. The small towns I usually can tell where to go.

"Press 1 for English." F that, I usually have directions over the QC but if I don't, I fire up the laptop and get online, use Mapquest or Google Maps or something.

I never call the customer. Waste of time and half of the time they don't have any idea where they are. I use my GPS but obviously that isn't working out for some people.

Google Maps on my phone. I set satellite view and look from the destination back to the highway. And I do that before I get close so I have the route written down or memorized. I also look for alternate ways as cities construction sites you don't know until you see the detour sign.

Stop at a pay phone, call 911 and say there's a bunch of naked college girls running around drunk and throwing eggs at the cars in the shipper/receiver's parking lot. Every cop in town will immediately head that way. Follow the flashing lights.

If you can ever get a chance to talk to a mail carrier, they know where EVERYTHING is..lol I once called a consignee for local directions, the lady didnt know where I was, or had never heard of the highway I was on. Mind you now, I was in their town, on the main highway thru town. After I told her I was sitting the in the Walmart parking lot, she replied, "Oh I know where Walmart is!".lol...
I joke with my wife about she doesnt know how many miles it is to work, or names of the roads, or even the address of where she works. But, if asked to get to walmart, she knows the number of traffic lights, street light, street names, other bussinesses in the area, and how many d**n trees and whinos are on the way..lmao

Use a little flash card or sticky note and write down he directions. Then put the flash card or stickly note on the dash somewhere.
