    Anybody have this setup?

Is it worth the cost? I already have all the DirecTV stuff I need except for the dish

    Would you recommend the V10, V20, V30?

There are several other threads here on them, but here is the summary:

Yes, I have a V10 with Direct TV. Yes, I also sell and install VuQubes.

Is it worth the cost??? That's a relative question depending on how much you like watching TV.

Driver A may say: "I hardly EVER watch TV. No time. It's not worth the cost."

Driver B may say: I like to watch a couple of ours every night and football on Saturday and Sunday. I hate not having access to the same channels I have at home when I am on the road. For him, it's worth it.

V10: least expensive. You use a remote control in your sleeper when you stop at night and you manually press the up/down and left/right keys to get the signal dialed in.

V20: the "middle model." You use one button when you are stopped and it finds the signal itself in 1 - 3 minutes.

V30: the "high-end model." Same as a V20, but it also stays on the signal when the vehicle is in motion.

If you already have satellite at home (DirectTV, Dish Network, Bell ExpressVue, or Free-to-air) then it is very simple and cheap to add another box to your monthly bill for the truck.

Note: if you want High-Def signal then you have to use Dish Network.
Note 2: local channels are hit-and-miss depending on where you are and what options you pay for from the satellite TV company on your plan.

Hope that helps. Ask away with any other finer details at this thread if you want. I'll give you the straight scoop on anything technical about them.

Why do I need to use DISH. DirecTV has more HD channels than DISH does?

Because Direct uses what is called the "ka band" frequency to feed their HD programming. This requires a dish that is 3' wide and 2' high in order to pick up that band. The dish inside of a VuQube is only like 10 inches and round in shape. That physical shape cannot pick up the ka band programming. Dish Network broadcasts on a band that is capable on a VuQube.

So it's not a question of programming, it's about the hardware required to receive it unfortunately. It may change at some point though if Direct gets enough customers complaining about their mobile HD TV's.

I'm very interested in it due to the music channels. At home with cable or satellite, the music channels play nonstop music one song after the other. Is it like that with the VuCube as well?

My main problem with satellite radio is that between every single song they have to remind me that it is Sirius/XM 80's on 8 or BPM, or The Pulse, or The Blend, or The Highway, the DJ's name and some innocuous BS about the band that just played because said bored DJ was looking them on on Google and just *had* to share that with the listening audience. I mean I know it's Sirius/XM, I pay the bill, I know what the channel it's on, I selected it, I don't care what the DJ's name is or any trivia about the band; I can do my own research on Google thanks. Then they'll have "Another Movie Moment" on 90's or "Smurfs" on 80's or "The Nashville Flash" on Highway. I DON'T CARE! I just want my music no talking isn't that what they sell? DJ's go back to FM if you want to talk to people over the air please.

Yes, both Dish Network and DirectTV have a series of commercial-free music channels in just about every possible genre. Whatever music channels you have on that service at home would be the same in the truck when you are locked onto the signal.

OK So how does this no drill mount work? I am going to be driving a company truck and I am sure they won't appreciate me drilling holes!! Not sure they will mount it for me either.
