EDIT: thank you everyone for the advice and explaining recap hours to me! I’ve only ever done full clock reset instead of working off of recap hours. So this is a first for me. Again, I appreciate it!

    Hello everyone
This is somewhat of a rant and seeking advice? Questions are in bold below my rant/story of events.

I am in a bit of a situation. I drive a dedicated account with Tyson(out of west TN) been with them 6-7months. Havent had really any issues with running and am guaranteed home weekly for 34reset,sometimes longer.
Well this week has been #### because of the holiday. Fourth of July week ran so much smoother. Tuesday afternoon I had a load cancelled and was told to drive back to home yard(200miles) and that a load would be ready for me Wednesday morning at another yard (30miles away from home yard). Wednesday morning bright and early I get to my load and it will not be ready until like 2am THURSDAY. I tell dispatch and he says to wait. so I sit for like 6 hours and he decides to tell me to just go home (which is nearby) and that I will grab a different load from a different yard (70miles away) Thursday morning. I’m assuming that yet again another load was cancelled. During this whole time I am wasting valuable time in my 70hrs by driving the truck back and forth ON DUTY. Thursday comes around and I get to the yard bright and early and that load, yet again, isn’t ready so I sit for 6-7hrs waiting on it, in sleeper berth, so I can run a split sleeper shift for that load that day. Well I run that load and another load and another load.
Here I am almost at the end of my 70hrs, not getting home by the way, plus not going to make it to the delivery/homeyard in time like dispatch wants. Won’t be done in time to complete a 34reset in order to leaveby 7am Monday, when dispatch wants me to leave for ANOTHER load. I told dispatch, when I got this projected Monday load, that it probably wasn’t going to work and got push back….
I am just at a loss of words and don’t know what actions to makes. I’m honestly kind of fed up. Is this Tyson dedicated account the problem???? Is Tyson like this in general??? I came with them thinking it would not be like other companies I’ve worked for but here we are…
First question- How will I gain hours back on a “recap?” From my understanding I will have to do a 34reset in order to drive at all next week since I will have worked 70hrs.
Second question- what should I do about my dispatch? I have stated modestly that these actions are illegal and that I will stop the truck for a reset or recap like they want(which I don’t understand).

1- run illegal make delivery tonight and leave Monday get caught/don’t get caught
2-if I run illegally at all-Tyson will throw you out of service for a full week without pay- during government safety weeks.
3-I sit my happy ### in my truck and wait on my reset and tell my dispatch to suck it make the delivery when I can legally and grab next load when I can legally.

Recap hours returned will be the hours you ran 8 days prior.
Look at your logs and count back 8 days and that’s what you will get back after midnight.

Don’t run illegal, your dispatch should know exactly how many hours you have available.

If they’re completely inept, run the load until you have no time left and let them deal with it.

when you told them you won't run illegal, what did they say??

I have had that problem before and asked them to send me a message over the Quaalcom stating to just go ahead and run it. they decided they could NOW reschedule it. lol

    Some qtns for you:

    • What is your zip code?
    • How much total driving experience do you have?
    • What CDL endorsements (if any) do you now have?
    • How is your safety record?

How long ago was the wreck?

Can you substantiate in writing who was actually at fault?
