These new driver assistance features are not only useless but dangerous as well. It gives wrong sense of additional control to inexperienced drivers.
Here’s a video of a truck equipped with collision warning in action.

i think we had seen that one before. still very scary to say the least.

when i was driving, i was not as brave as some other drivers tend to be, which resulted in me NOT having any accidents. i parked that truck, and either took a long nap, or found a truck stop, or motel that had truck parking.

communications with the company to let them know where i was, and why i had stopped.

i was ALWAYS told, "good thinking, let us know when you are rolling again, or not, either way we will contact the customer".

no driver, those with years of experience or newbies/rookies, should never be threatened to "keep those wheels rolling", as it it YOUR CDL, not those in the offices.

I have mixed feeling about things like lane assist, adaptive cruise control, etc. My beef is they are things that allow a driver to be less attentive and a poorer quality driver in general. Some stuff, like back up camers and ABS brakes I think are good, because they don't have that effect. But, when a vehicle automatically keeps someone in a lane, it allows that driver to be lazy and less attentive. I don't think that is a good thing!
