    No, just an avalanche.

    Edit:
    Yeah, a mud slide too!
Still working on my first cup, a little slow at the moment.

Mud? Hills? Avalanches? How about a little air?

As far as those pesky signs with Jacobs oh well. I lived on a particular curve for years and don't notice those that properly jake down for it. Unless one messes up about once a year and rolls it on that curve. The last one stamped a impression of his steer wheel and nuts when he flopped over.

One of our companies used to have a rule in town when we all pull out at 3 am every morning. No jake until interstate. Just as well, engines were still cold and not time for that just yet anyway.

I got a ticket for using jake about 15 years ago. It was in the town of Kiowa, OK, cops known for writing speeding tickets. I was going through town at the speed limit, and when I got to where the cops where sitting a four wheeler slammed on his brakes when he saw cops. I took my foot off accelerator to hit brake pedal ( forgot jake was on ) jake came on just for a few seconds. Cop stopped me and wrote me a ticket for violating city ordinance of no engine brakes. ( I was driving a truck with stock mufflers and jake was quiet ) Cost me $150.00. Nothing on my license though.

There was one particular tractor at auction which was a real sweetie. (Sold at 35000 dollars that day) and she was running nicely at warm temp ready to go. Boss was on my fuel tank checking and I told him wait one sec, we'll see if the jacobs on her is any good. Reved her up to 1900 or so, fired the jakes. RPM's came right back down. And bells under the hood probably from the valves.

Thats one that got away. I would have bought it myself. It did have the factory mufflers and so forth, nothing outrageous. But it was a real good strong tractor. The bidding was intense once i got her into the bay. I think the chanter hammer had it up by 5's until about 30,000 or so, several dropped out then fight with the phone bidders by thousands hammered sold at 35000.

Shes probably worth every penny of that considering the third tag axle ahead of the two drives on her.

Technically the term is Richard Cranium.

    People use Richard as shorthand.

Is it really worth it to go to court to fight an ordinance citation when you could just not use your engine brake for 3/4 of a mile?

It’s called being considerate. I’d imagine many homeowners are sick and tired of hearing engine brakes all the time. That’s one of the reasons why signs are installed. Personally, even if there are no signs, I do not use the engine brakes if I’m driving through homes whether on the streets or on two-lane roads.
