3 packs of cigs and a case of mountain dew, diapers, prep H and doans pills and your almost there and that is what you need to survive. Throw in some food and you will most likely be over budget.
Do some OTR truckers really spend $60 a day?

100 or less every week. Sometimes 60 a week.
Dollar general. Aldi's if I'm near one. Big Lots. Dollar tree. Grocery store for healthier stuff like fruits and vegetables.
Usually will only do truck stops if there's enough points on my cards to cover it. Those are good for tea or light snacks.flyingmusician Thanks this. -
My wife prepares me 6 meals and I have a microwave, coffe pot, fridge and a 12 volt cooler. I keep my drinks in the cooler and my food, milk, OJ etc in the fridge. I have gone a week without dropping. But I can see how it is possible.

A coupon clipping wife, fridge and microwave in the truck = $50 a week at most and that's if I get extras. I eat well for way under that amount.
No sense in spending that much a day unless they're just fat and lazy but given what I see in the truck stops every day and what they walk out of there with its entirely possible they spend that much......as they whine because they don't have any money.Last edited: Aug 9, 2015

Depends on if BBQ Road Kill is alright with you?

I had a driver's wife tell me one time that her husband came home without a paycheck, because he had spent so much on food and crap on the road his draws to the company were bigger than his paycheck.....

I budget $200 a week for food and incidentals which will include scale tickets, parking, oil, coolant, office supplies and such and showers if I am out of reward card network.
I don't keep track of it that close but do enjoy going in for a sit down meal a few times a week. I spend a lot in tips always a $1 for a shower (about 6 showers a week) and $5 bucks tip for meals whether it is $13 for a dinner or 2AM $3.49 pie and ice cream because I can't sleep, still give up a $5 dollar tip.Dreamboat and Cottonmouth85 Thank this.
