Off duty is off duty. Just don't go on duty to deal with a wreck or DOT.

    Strip clubs
El Paso night riders.....blazing by my Walmart parking lot
    Gusty dessert winds....
While I chug another beer in my truck on my 34.....
Sleep, sleep....get good sleep....only to be waken up by drool coming out of your mouth...
Guess I really needed that 34....
    Back to sleep

Well, what about the USA Truck driver that was arrested in a truck stop parking lot; wasn't even in the truck, but he had been drinking. His co-driver bumped another truck while parking. He lost his job and his CDL even though he wasn't in the truck.
Surely, you remember that post on here; even had pictures of the incident.
Geeze, my brain may be getting old, but it still works.

The second he engaged with DOT he was back on duty. You just have to tell the thugs your off duty over and over until you have to call your lawyer if need be.

If you have a BAL of 0.04 or more with a CDL, sitting in your truck that is SHUT down but the keys are in the ignition, they can arrest you for DUI. Jim Klepper has written about this many times in the truck stop newspapers you pick up in the TA/Petro/AMBest.

Shut down where? If private property I'd love to see that play out in court.

In the end, I don't think it's worth it. Even if you win in court you still have to sue for lost wages, time, energy, stress. ...

From what I've read it's ok to drink on your reset, just make sure your co-driver isn't stealing hoods in the parking lot. If the USA driver was bombed why was the co-driver moving the truck?

Do what ever you like that is not working related.

The company and the DOT man have no say in what you do with your reset time, unless you are out there breaking the law.
