Do you hold the steering wheel with 1 hand or 2 when driving?

Most of the time I’m steering with my left hand and mostly resting my right hand loosely on the steering wheel.

I’am scared to ask if you have a tablet or cell ph holder. I sometimes drive with no hands if I”am in a truck with the twin sticks

Usually my left hand is the only one on the wheel if I’m in a freeway just maintaining my speed with straight roads. If it’s windy or if I’m driving thru narrow lanes or roads with absolutely no shoulder then I’ll have both in the wheel.

All jokes aside - this is one that should be taught in schools.

I notice the ‘jerky’ drivers often are the ‘11pm and 1am ’ drivers, all hunched up over the wheel, it’s the worst position ergonomically speaking. All your weight and force is on top of the wheel, relying on your core strength to keep it dead straight.

Im 8pm left, and light touch at 3 - thighs level.

Even a 7pm 5pm is better than rolling all over the 12 mark,

You do want both hands readily available, and a fresh set of underwear if you blow a steer (never happened to me in 20years.)

No foot up on the dash, but in my early days I did it on occasion, because I too, was stupid as a rookie. I’ll admit that.

And wear a seatbelt. I didn’t for years, now I do all the time. If things go sideways, there’s nothing to stop you from exiting that seat and losing all possibilities of control.
