Do you know...? Disgusting Cigarette smokers

I admit it all the time...worst habit I ever started....however, I have the habit, and personally I will enjoy my tobacco until the day I don't enjoy my tobacco!

I have recounted a story about a former employer of mine...George, the owner of a Mortuary....who went to see his doctor for his annual physical, naturally the doctor told George to quit smoking...George followed his advice...over the course of 6 weeks George had zero cigarettes...at the next followup visit with the doctor...well George came back to the mortuary with cigarette in hand (mouth), with a big smile across his face, and a little high from the "buzz" of the cigarette...and announced that he did not purchase the cigarettes the doctor did....turns out the stress of quitting was worse than the tobacco on George.

 

Like the man said " its legal" i dont drink. You drink? You are a dangerous son of a gun. Outlaw booze. O yeah we did that. Didnt work out so well.
If this is your biggest complaint about truckin, maybe you should open your eyes and get your nose outta my face.

prostitution should be legal. How come a guy can take a girl out and spend a lot of money to try to compel her to put out, but can't just strike a business deal and be done with it? or am I hijackin the thread hahaaha

 

I'm a throat cancer survivor, 4 surgeries, first diagnosed in 1986 when I was 23 and in the Air Force. Never smoked in my life, but mom and dad smoked like chimneys. The car always stunk, as did they. The walls in the house were tinted brownish-orange.

That said, I don't hate smokers, or think that it should be outlawed, but I do hate cleaning a truck after a moderate to heavy smoker has been in it for a while. I've worked for a couple of companies who SWEAR the truck has been "detailed" or will be. Never happens because they have a load waiting on you, so you end up cleaning the truck.

One request I have, though, as a non-smoker to you smoking folks - every time I walk into or out of a truck stop/restaurant, there seems to be someone smoking RIGHT at the door, giving me no choice but to hold my breath or inhale your smoke. Can you move a few more feet away from the door? It's your right to smoke, and it's my right not to smoke with you. I guess in typical trucker fashion, I need to quit asking nicely and start taking action when I'm forced to smoke their cigarettes with them. Should I take a radical position, since I always carry mace...to say that we can make a deal - if I don't have to breathe your smoke, I won't mace you?

If I owned a fleet of trucks, I'd hire non-smoking drivers. I don't own a fleet of trucks, so I'll deal with it as it goes.

Appreciate the info on cleaning. I used to have a full-scale detailing business, so I have all the tricks...just don't think I should always have to clean up after someone else before I can go to work.

 

If you work for a trucking company based out of Ohio you are not allowed to smoke in the trucks. It is considered a work environment. When they banned smoking in bars they also slid that in on us too. I smoke and I think its BS but if you want an answer to your question come work in Ohio.

 

Let's back up a little.

What about all the billboards, TV commercials and magazine ads that said it was cool to smoke? Tom Selleck use to be the Marlboro Man.

What about high schools that had smoker lounges for the students?

What about cigarette vending machines in every establishment you went to?

What about every movie star smoking on TV showing it was the in thing?

You tend to forget you encouraged us to smoke and now that we are addicted, we are the low lifes of your new world. Who's brilliant now?

 

I can't imagine a trucking company that would hire anybody to drive their truck that has walked through parking lots that have been contaminated by human waste without first taking their shoes off outside the truck and entering it barefoot.

 

Don't forget they really like all the tax revenue from us.
