Yes the violation will fall off your ELD after the 8th day but will still be showing at the carrier's records for 6 months. Just don't have a fatality crash in the next 6 months or you could end up in prison (worst case).

I guess this is soooo much easier for those of us that spent so many years under the old, old HOS rules where all one could do it recap.

Logbooks, and issues. What you do is at the end of the day. You rip out that page and go wipe yourself with it. In today's industry, as every day rules and regs are uncertain to last. With all the talk of HOS changes every time we turn around. Even D.O.T, and law enforcement are confused as to what the h--l is really going on with H.O.S. Glad i do not have to run a logbook anymore, and H.O.S does not pertain to me. Less headaches.

I hate them tests they give in orientation. How many hours can you drive in a day? 14. Drive 7, take 10, drive 7. How many hours can you drive/on duty in 8 days? All of them as long you don't drive after the 70th without a 34.

That there is a giveaway that they have no clue what they are doing asking those questions. The 34 reset is not required, it is an option. I can recap my hours over the last 8 days and may still be able to drive after midnight of the day my 70 ran out. Same thing that was doable since HOS first came on the scene in 1939. Recapping hours has stayed the same with all of the HOS changes since then.

Drive as many as u want. Just do not get caught. That is why Looseleaf logs were great. Orientation and the stupid videos and tests are to test the person's knowledge. I have been in this industry long enough that i can almost recite them word for word. Than we must not forget the SMART system. This is why i bought my own trucks years ago and stop being a company driver, or messing with the Lease rip me off you'll never own the truck program lol
