Does 2021 Freightliner software include any sort of active idling suppression software?

Specifically, I have noticed that every day I have had a lot of idling time, my truck fails to activate Opti Idle after the first cooling cycle of the evening.

This might be a coincidence, but I also know that the Opti Idle system is intentionally designed to fail to operate after it tries (and fails) to cool to a set temp for 45 minutes, but I do not know if it tracks daily performance, or just one-shot checks for cooling cycle time.

Specifically, is my truck tracking Idle %?

Also, is there a setting that will cause the truck to refuse to start opti-idle more than once if my Idle % of the day is over <x> percentage?

Failing either of those, is there a way that my truck might be receiving remote instructions on a daily basis which might tell the truck to 'penalize' me for a high idle % (calculated offsite) by disabling opti-idle after the first cooling cycle?

I am not entirely sure WTF is going on with the Opti Idle on this truck, but it is beginning to make me rather angry after several days of waking up three or four hours after shutting down with my sleeper over 80 degrees. The only days opti idle seems to work properly are days when I run a lot of road miles with very little idling.

Sample size is small so far. Only been in the truck for a bit over a week, but something smells fishy here, and I don't think it's my armpits.

You can set max idle time/24 hours

    Farmerbob1 Thanks this.

    Thank you.

So, if I understand correctly, if a company wanted to save fuel and didn't give a flying fart about the safety of their drivers or the motoring public, they could set a max idle time of 2.4 hours per day, and once that time is met, Opti-idle would fail to activate, no matter what the temperature inside the sleeper?

Never set up opti-idle, but i'm sure the 24 hour idle count would include that time.

No way to "remote" it. If there was i would have so much fun with some of my drivers.

Can you tell me where that setting is found, so I can relay it to others, either here or in a PM?

It’s inside the ecm. You need the FL software and a password to change it….

A dealership could get around the password problem, but wouldn’t change it on a company truck…….

I’d go and get your old truck…..but that’s me

If you have the program it would be in the idle settings.

I do not have the programming interface, I just wanted to be able to say where the setting is.
