I do see a few people concerned about those hair tests. I think think they can detect drug use from much farther back. If someone is really concerned about a hair test, I think I know why.

So if it is a half an inch per 30 long would my hair have to be for them to find that joint I smoked 18 years ago?

The hair test only goes back to the date where your hair at that length started to grow.. So if a person hasn't cut their hair for 18 years.. Then that's how far the test will show for drugs. It stays in your hair.. So you see some with very short hair? Don't forget pubic, under arm , chest hairs.. They grow fairly slow. And also will show drugs.. On a pee test like for grass it can show up for about 90 days.. So the pot head needs a job, doesn't smoke for 91 days.. They should be clean.. The hair will pick it up. But try to explain those legal drugs. That can show up for that operation you had, and the doctor used one of the NIDA 5 drugs on you for pain 5 years ago.. Or when ever. Try to get evidence for that one.. The hair testing is going to truly be a pain in the back side

Swab is the newer, improved substitute for the breathalyser, checking for alcohol. It's used by clinics more, and sometimes, post accident, or random, you may need the quick alcohol test, I have to do an instant test on about half of the randoms I take.

I've been through alot of drug testing over the years, I've never had a hair sample test. But of course the pee test, and had one place give you a sucker, that you sucked on for 5 minutes. And had almost instant results. Now think of this.. If you are called in for a random test, can you work before the results are in? And what's the worse thing you can do Ina drug test? How about dropping the full cup on the floor. There is an organization that refineries and alot of the mines use, where if your switch jobs that are in their system, you already took the test and they will forward the results to the next employer. So you dont need to be taking off to different labs for testing. DOT is rather lenient about failing the tests, as you can go to drug or alcohol school. If you work in a refinery. And fail onetime..EVER working for a refinery ... You are banned from all of the refineries.. Forever. They make it very simple to understand the rules.

Right, and wrong... the substance stays in your body for a certain amount of time per whatever drug was used... now you can cut your hair and because the drug is still in your system it will still grow inside through the hair follicle. If you grow your hair for 18 years and periodically used drugs in that time frame it will show spots in your hair follicles of positive and negative.

That answers one question up front. People who ask this sort of question is itself a red flag because there is usually some form of drug use somewhere.

Alcohol is nice to have, what I do is for every shot I take I add 8 hours to eliminate it before I drive a semi truck. I consider myself sober since 1991 when the new CDL rules came into force because I literally was taught how to drink and drive with the old iron semis back on the old bad roads with no airride anything and would pace myself with that alcohol so I can keep it between the lines without getting too smashed.

I did not change from Class A to the new CDL until judgement day which was late april of 1994 for me personally. The State of Maryland had extra staff on hand that day in the DMV and processed all of us fairly quickly. Once I had that #### thing in my pocket that was the end of my drinking and driving period.

I was grandfathered under Arkansas Law pernamently, but turned in my CDL for a basic car license after learning the differences in penalties should I as a pain patient be pulled over for DUI with a CDL versus a Car license. So I was more than happy to turn that CDL in when I did after almost 32 years holding on to the #### thing including my Class A years.

I may upgrade to one big enough to handle any RV to wrap up some traveling at some point in my future. Ex and I have plans but may or may not be able to use those plans with a RV in our life time due to challenges that are present at this time from relatives who need us and are too sick to take care of themselves. One is in assisted living, a very nice place until he passes on and is interred at Arlington and god knows the other here in Arkansas will more than likely outlive the both of us.

It's been very difficult this year for all of us. And I think when this is all over and done with, we intend to do some traveling to certain places. But we are not going to be doing any flying due to the TSA's excessive... groping. Its either going to be by train via sleeper compartment and or a rental car and a good hotel in the area when we get there. When we take the train to the east coast we will have to cross Sandpatch and Alleghany gap which stands at 4200 feet above sea level. That will be a difficult passage for me due to oxygen losses that high up. But it will only take about 3 hours to get up and over that one so I'll be ok.
    Annonymous Thanks this.

Honestly I do not care how I get tested. Never have been hair tested. But I will pee in a cup anytime.
I will worry when they start using cholesterol numbers as a reason to not hire.
DannoB1, Annonymous and Maj. Jackhole Thank this.
