but what I know so far is that they have a great guy that is the head recruiter over at the Medford center. He communicated in a very encouraging, friendly manner to me and this last little note I got said "10-4" Denise, talk with you soon, Rick Dutra.
Anyway, I had called them last week in hopes of asking a few questions and he was on vacation. They said to check in after Monday. I finally got around to it today and I wrote him about me and what I was doing to move ahead with a grant and schooling. I asked him how to go about getting a pre-hire, things like that. He wanted me to call him when I am set to start IITR. I am so hoping I will get the chance to get a pre-hire with Gordon. Heard good things about them, so far.

I don't know much about them personally, but one day at school one of their drivers stopped by just to say hi. I think he had graduated from the school some time ago. Anyway, he was happy as a clam with Gordon and had nothing but good to say about them.

thanks dodger, good to hear

It would make it possible for you to get home fairly regularly.

That would be great. I am getting way ahead of things though and I really don't want my hopes up too high but then again, I am accustomed to disappointment, who isn't in this world
But this a.m. from 9-11 I get the skinny on the grant. Then, I am assigned a "worker" to meet with after the class some time very soon I hope. It's at that point I hope to find out it's a go for IITR school

PS do you really dance? I saw a beautiful Pow Wow in Montana, my first and only so far. I couldn't take my eyes of the dances and there attire. I am very proud to have Native American blood. On my mothers side, Nez Perce, on my dads, Cherokee. Another thread or topic

I have NEVER heard much bad about Gordon, in fact most of their drivers speak quite highly of them. Of course every once in a while a driver #######, but that's part of being a truck driver! Now that the economy is in the crapper, all companies have had to make a few cut backs. But overall Gordon seems to be doing pretty good. Good Luck !!!

I've worked for Gordon for almost a year now. I was hired right from RCC Truck School the day after I took my CDL test. They do their best to keep me moving (average is 2,400-3,000 miles per week). I live in White City, so the terminal in Medford is very convenient for me. Don't get me wrong, they are a 'trucking' company, but they're not nearly as bad as some of the trucking companies out there. They really STRESS "SAFE & LEGAL", which always seems to cover my a__! They also do a pretty good job of getting me home when i need to be home.

thanks Johnny, I live in Sams Valley and if my cardio physical I have to take comes out good, I still may go to IITR and try to get a pre-hire from Gordon.

oregongrown, I don't know much about IITR except when I went to truck school, a friend of mine went to IITR. He didn't have a positive experience. I went to RCC through their truck school at the White City campus. The instructors there both drove for Gordon and had nothing but nice things to say about them. When it came time to finish school, Rick Dutra came out and gave us the Gordon "pitch". I was hired on at Gordon the day after I took my CDL driving test.
