    Not really.
It's just that OSA is not, nor has it ever been a requirement for DOT. Any Dr that tests for it is going outside DOT requirements and as such all you need to do is find a Dr. that doesn't test for it.
Yes FMCSA does recommend it, but that's all it is. If your new company requires going to a Dr. that forces an OSA test, go to a different company.

    Don’t ask.
    Don’t tell.
If doctor asks then answer truthfully.

Yes. The FMCSA has cracked down/ eliminated the ability to "Doctor Shop". The industry is full of drivers with OSA. Regardless of the arguments about testing, over testing, aye hole Doctors pushing it, Companies getting kick backs.....yada yada.....it has become a fact of life in the Med card world. There is a $#!+load of things that bother me more than this particular subject. It WILL NOT affect your ability to get a valid medical card.....may slow it down a bit...that's all. Get on top of it and jump thru the necessary hoops if you want to reactivate your CDL and drive again. Lying about it will just exacerbate the situation and may PREVENT you from re-entering the industry. There is a SPECIFIC question on the long form. Answer it truthfully. You will get caught lying. There is no such thing as medical privacy. No matter what you or anybody thinks, it does not exist!

This reminds me of a funny situation I had with a ME oh maybe 15 or so years ago. When asked do I snore I answered how the heck do I know I'm asleep and most times sleep alone. The ME laughed and went on to the next question.

15 days ago you would have been in a sleep clinic with a mask and hose connected to your head! Oh how times have changed. But......driver shortage, driver shortage is the mantra. I always appreciate your input Moose 1958. You may not be behind the wheel....but you are a valuable resource on this forum.....Thanks!
