Happy to see this thread is still alive and helping some folks out.

Glad to see you're still at it and doing well. I miss it at times, but manage to get a fix doing the occasional dump run or dragging the latest ill-conceived craigslist car home.

Got my truckstop fix driving up and down the rows playing CCR & handing out random gifts to a bunch of drivers who got stuck in Lodi over Christmas.

I did - plus Redding & Sacramento.

By the way, I just bought some Ruger stock today. Seems like a good price, especially if that new 9mm carbine is a hit.

I've never had much luck with timing LOL. I still get hub group emails full of $2 & $3/mile dry van loads -- in February -- and can't help but kick myself for hanging up the keys a bit too soon.

But the rentals are doing pretty well. Multifamily market values haven't changed much in California, but rents keep going up while the mortgage stays the same (plus I'm one year closer to payoff).

Plus it is fun seeing the world through the eyes of college kids away from home for the first time. Just this week I had to teach a tenant how to send a letter by putting it through the slit labeled "outgoing mail." The apartment has one of those multi-compartment mailboxes, but she had only ever had an individual mailbox with the little flag on the side that you raise when you have something to send. So she kept putting the letter in her box and wondering why the mailman kept stacking more mail on top of it...

 

Oh, and probably the final update on that Transcold broker: after years the bankruptcy trustee recently sent out the final accounting -- they collected $1.1 million & pocketed something like $800,000 in fees. I'm a little surprised they didn't drag it out another year and finish that last $300k...

BNSF was the biggest loser, they were owed $3.2 million and collected $50,000. Ouch...
