I was wondering which if any downgrades that are east of the Mississippi are so challenging that you might think about them a day in advance or even route yourself around them?

Only place I’ve ever broke a slight sweat was a few roads in New Hampshire, doubt you will ever visit those anyway.

Just take your time and don't exceed the recommended speed and you'll always be fine

Any grade can kill you. You have to respect them all.
That being said i don't think about it worry over them ahead of time. Drop to an appropriate speed based on current weight and the current grade and priced with caution.

Out west during winter i will be checking weather ahead of time cause some of those passes can get several feet of snow dumped on them in a short time. If the pass is gonna be closed i want to know as soon as possible, not when i get right up to it.

Just came off the one south of Asheville Nc.....much worse than Jellico, Fancy Gap, or Monteagle.

The Loves at the bottom of Fancy Gap always smells like burning brakes, and Monteagle can be dangerous if you take it too fast. Other than those two I can't think of any hills east of the big river that are worth worrying about. I assume we're not counting skinny back roads?

Randy O and tucker Thank this.
