I was wondering which if any downgrades that are east of the Mississippi are so challenging that you might think about them a day in advance or even route yourself around them?

Swedish Chef, stwik, ChaoSS and 1 other person Thank this. -
Only place I’ve ever broke a slight sweat was a few roads in New Hampshire, doubt you will ever visit those anyway.
QuietStorm and Randy O Thank this. -
Just take your time and don't exceed the recommended speed and you'll always be fine

Randy O Thanks this.

Any grade can kill you. You have to respect them all.
That being said i don't think about it worry over them ahead of time. Drop to an appropriate speed based on current weight and the current grade and priced with caution.
Out west during winter i will be checking weather ahead of time cause some of those passes can get several feet of snow dumped on them in a short time. If the pass is gonna be closed i want to know as soon as possible, not when i get right up to it. -
Just came off the one south of Asheville Nc.....much worse than Jellico, Fancy Gap, or Monteagle.
Broke Down 69, G13Tomcat and Randy O Thank this. -
Randy O Thanks this.

The Loves at the bottom of Fancy Gap always smells like burning brakes, and Monteagle can be dangerous if you take it too fast. Other than those two I can't think of any hills east of the big river that are worth worrying about. I assume we're not counting skinny back roads?
