i have seen many carney's in my area. the trucker (if he can actually be called a trucker) is always a roustabout as well. working all day long, from the time of arrival at the site, setting up, and sometimes working the rides, concession stands, etc..

then the teardown, and onto the next location.

not too much time for rest.

Yup…I was going to say the exact same thing lol. Much like some of the NASCAR car haulers…I knew one guy who did a bunch of other stuff when he wasn’t driving…cooking for the team, gopher etc.

I hauled carnival rides for 15 years. There is a reason they usually start moving in the middle of the night on Saturday, through Sunday depending on how far they have to go. Avoid enforcement. I cannot begin to tell you how many of those trailers are not worth hauling. The ride may work, be safe and inspected, the the chassis that hauls it is never looked at.
And the guys who are employed by the carnival companies. well let's just say they march to a different drummer.

Last day of carnival Is a 30 hour day. Work ride all day, tear down, transport to next city. During tear down we did not stop until every ride was packed and loaded. It was a fun job when you young,,
