One of the worst ways to go imo. Alone without friends or family in a semi truck basically forgotten about until someone wondered where there equipment went.

my worst nightmare, not for me, but for my wife, not knowing anything for days, or weeks.....
good thing i went local/regional...mjd4277, hope not dumb twucker, austinmike and 3 others Thank this. -
Was always a worry in the back of my mind when I was OTR, started doing morning and night text with wife and a dispatch so I wouldn't be in the truck for days if something happened.
Have had to make a few of the welfare calls to Police about a couple drivers, have all turned out fine, but it puts a pit in your stomach until they get back to you.mjd4277, Tb0n3, hope not dumb twucker and 3 others Thank this. -
My back went out on me a few years ago, and I was pretty much trapped in my bunk by severe back spasms for most of a day. I had my phone so I wasn’t too worried, but it was easy to imagine the worst while I was in that situation.

Every day I wake up in the sleeper I'm happy. I'd hate to ruin a good truck with my carcass.hope not dumb twucker and drvrtech77 Thank this. -
Happened at one company I worked, guy gonna do a reset on a Friday, to Saturday.
Monday they couldn’t get a hold of him and called law, truck had ran outta fuel Saturday around noonish they figured, he swelled and busted on the mattress. Took him out the sleeper door. Mattress and all, had to change upholstery and everything and truck still stank.
They ended up selling it. Was on 07 pete 379 red with black fenders.Sons Hero and hope not dumb twucker Thank this. -
It’s tough out here. I’ve seen a few pass away in the truck since I’ve been out here. This is one of the aspects that stinks about the new culture of trucking in this country, every man for himself. You’re on your own until family wonders where you’re at.
certain things just stick with you, and not necessarily in a good way. About six months ago, I was at a receiver, delivering a load and him driver came in behind me. His face red eyes are all bloodshot and at first I thought man this guy must’ve had a wild night. When he went up to the window, he told the rude lady. His appointment was for 2 PM, but he was begging to be unloaded quickly as his father had passed away early in the morning. And he needed to get home. She was completely unsympathetic. Acted like he was making it up… So I went up to the window and said can he have my appointment. It was 11 AM. “No because we need your product before his“ it’s unbelievable to me.
Your inner circle of people get smaller and smaller the longer you’re out here. Until you wake up one day and realize or question if anyone even remembers you’re out here at all.Tb0n3, rollin coal and hope not dumb twucker Thank this. -
A local guy was up north and passed away on the toilet at the truck stop . I’d rather it happen in sleeper instead.
