Sunblock, not tanning lotion... I think you want something SPF 50 or higher.

Skin cancer is a real threat forsome folks.

Keep your window rolled up so you have the UV protection.

    Long sleeve shirt.
Missouri will make you take off tent on commercial vehicle, or like $300 fine

Like @Long FLD said, keep the window up because the side windows are polarized. I'm very susceptible to burning. Cant be outside without getting torched, and I never burn in my truck because my windows are up (I dont smoke and I hate dust). But if you need sun protection, wear a light colored long sleeve shirt or wear SUNBLOCK, not tanning lotion.

Many drivers get skin cancer, pre-mature aging, on their left arm, hands, left side of face, because of sun coming through drivers side window.
I finally started using a roll-up shade on that window that I bought from Walmart in the automotive section.
It's spring loaded, so easy to roll up and down.
No one can see in, but you can see out and see the rearview mirror just fine.
This one is similar to what I bought. It's cream color on the outside and black on the inside.
Bought two, one for drivers side and one for passenger side. The passenger side one I used when parked.

See the two black plastic hooks at top of shade? Hook them on top of the window, then roll the window up. That won't damage the hooks or the window.

Yeah, when crossing scales, I roll up the window shade. Easy to do, it's spring loaded.

15% tint on the side windows works great for me
