Schneider intermodal allow you to pick your start time, at least here in Chicago. So if you say you want to start at 5am, then they will give you loads that you can do from 5am to 7pm

As for flatbedder, I did some overnight runs just to avoid traffic or to get around the east coast and find a spot before it fill up

^^^^ Did you happen to know that Mr. Banks gent, from Cowen, and also from Lucas Ohio, that got killed last week, helping motorists? I did not, but I know Tim, the owner of Cowen, and the deceased gent is my age. It still hurts my heart.

ps: Sorry to derail. I haul asphalt and some flatbed off season, still all nights. I don't do OS/OD anymore; although they usually run days, as you are looking for.

Which is precisely why I asked the question. Some drivers don't have your blessed night owl mentality, but do respect and appreciate guys like yourself who keep the bread and butter flowing so guys like myself can run days and sleep at night.
My simple wish shouldn't preclude me from being a vital part of the trucking industry and contributing to society simply because I prefer to run around those crazy cooky hours. What about the other half of drivers ironically who are opposed to driving day hour's? And beileve me I had the privilege and favorable time and honor to pick their brains about such. Should they be told as you indicated in your beginning of your response that since you didn't roll or deliver the load in the afternoon you're fired?
With respect to our early predecessors and the American industrial revolution of the late 1890's, technology and science has taken us all into a new dimention and direction as you indicated with more rail and freight rolling at night for better economic prosperity.
Lastly, and completely true that if all of those 200,000 18 wheelers decided to sleep at night the economy would suffer severe catastrophic consequences. But what if we all got together and worked more closely bridging the gap between adversity and conflict? Our economy would surpass and America as we and the entire world know it to be the super power still full of leadership, diversity and opportunity.

I run flatbed and never run between the hours of midnight to 5 am. It's quite rare I run after 10 pm.

Use your time wisely during the day and night running isn't necessary.

I appreciate your spirit and response.

I am not a morning person, my solution was to team with wife who was. Between the two of us we made it work.

I agree with your points, but one in particular is a stressor to me and that is people are never told that they would be replaced for failing to service customers on time. In fact I think they are told nothing. I know I was.

Hi there and thank you for the reply:

I understand you're not a morning person and your wife is.
First off..you're both blessed and lucky to have each other being able to work together striving for a secure future.
Most couples are either in divorce and family court arguing over $$$ and chattel.

I also agree that drivers shouldn't be punished if they're late with deliveries or pick-ups. We don't live in a perfect world and within the trucking industry there's a lot more gray areas I would prefer not to paint.

Why is it that us truckers are subjected and held to such a time constraint with deliveries and pick-ups especially when lives are paramount over freight?
    Simple amswer: $$$$$$$$$$$$$....sadly.

Always remember....you'll be told when you're doing a ####ty job..but rarely and once in a while will you be told otherwise.
