Yes you can. It adds it all up for you. What kt will not do is tell you how many hours you will have available after the splits. So you still have to do some of your own calculations to make sure you don't screw it up and end up being late anyway.

I was at a shipper the crane went down
I did not move the truck for 2 hours,
I had 3 hrs left on my clock.
For the 2 hours I was still I put eld in sleep berth. Half way towards home it marked violation ? Some trucker told me the 2/8 hr split is no longer in use ? I don’t know ,
Em I using this wrong ?

2 hour sleeper does not pause your 14 hour day
    An 8 hour sleeper does

Had you drove 1 hour and stopped for an 8 hour break you would now have 10 hours of driving after the 8.

The split sleeper is absolutely still in use. Just gotta know how it works ;)

8 hour break "pauses" your 11/14 hour shift, if you drive 7 then take 8 you can drive 4 more, when you must now take at least 2 in sleeper, after those 2 in sleeper your shift now starts at end of 8 hour break and you gain back the 7 so you have 7 available to drive now. Watch 14 begins when first 8 hour was taken! So you drive 7 after the 2 now you must take at least 8. Upon completing 8 your 14 starts at end of previous 2 hour sleeper but has been on pause for the 8 hour and you gain back the time previous to the 2 hour break or 4 hours.

It's easy once you understand it. I don't use it much, prefer to do the 30 min and 10 hour deal. I only use it if the loads are tight as a nun's nickers .. there's some threads that better describe how to do it..

The 2 hour portion of the 8/2 split does not have to be in the Sleeper to count; it can be off duty.

The 8 hr break has to be sleeper. The 2 hr break can be either off duty, sleeper, or any combo

I have used the split reset at times to shift my work day a few hours so as to be able to drive at a certain time of day (night time is when I prefer to be on the road and sleep during the day) without having to take an extra long break all in one shot.
