I don't think that pre 2000 truck, or trucks that can't get into California ( legally anyway ) are going to be the hot ticket some think they are.
I mean they will kill one another to get the freight that's not in California or that passes through California, yea they can go the long way around, but really, I hope everyone gets a truck that won't go into California.

These guys hauling all that cheap freight....I highly doubt the elog mandate will make a difference. You can bet they been getting by for years without even filling a log book out what makes some of you think they will start now just because it's electronic? The Dot will never see these elogs unless the truck gets inspected or the carrier gets audited. No different than paper.

Most of the trucks on the road already use e-logs and have for years. So any effect e-logs might have on rates has already happened.

Thats Not True- 70% of all trucking companies are 5 trucks or less with 50% of that being single truck owners.......The ones using E-logs are the carriers large enough to be scrutinized via Audits.

The FMCSA and State Governments KNOW who to pay attention too and Audit- And its Not the Independent workin' his tail off safely.

    Not true.

You can't base effects of elogs on big players that have drop yards/ relay/ re-power abilities.

Independents are the ones that sway the rates (since they grab the overflow) and if they are affected, the rates will reflect this.

Well that's a good point. Prices are determined at the margins. Let's see what happens. I make my last truck payment in January so I'm ready either way.

Just think about how many cross country produce loads today being hauled hot by solo independents and less-than-honest smaller carriers. Something's gotta give just there alone.
