The solo operator especially in expedited freight will be hurt Shippers and dispatchers will use them on shorter loads to make certain they can be delivered on time.
Teams think they might benefit, but they will have shorter loads forced on them also. The result will be teams with uneven hours.
Those who says rates will improve say this whenever regulations change, but the driver/owner needs sees the increase.

I don't know about the rates down but I defenitly think they're paper is safer. Paper doesn't control the clock nor tell you when you can and can't do your job.

I"m retiring. I'll be darned if i'm going to sit around for 30 minutes each day. My days are long enough as it is.

Exactly right the large companies will handle truck load freight the same as ABF and all the other LTL's. Terminals within a days drive from each other, drop hook & hammer on it. Instead of loading and reloading& drop and hook will be quicker to turn.

I guess I don't understand, I don't just "park" for 30 minutes and twittle my thumbs, I do it when it can be constructive, like taking a crap, grabbing a snack, or getting something to drink, and since I always park in the back row, 30 minutes usually comes and goes pretty quick till I get back to the truck.

I don't think it has to do with being compliant. It's more like being told when you can and can't do your job. Along with all the other BS that comes from playing along with the clock.

I certainly didn't like being pressed for time. And the things that are out of my control in taking up my time.

Freight rates gonna shoot straight up your ###. LOL
Have you thought about how many mega carriers are out there? Schneider, swift, werner, cr England and others. They have hundreds of trucks sitting in their yards ready to stuff fresh meat in the seat and pay them .34c to start and they'll be happy. If there will be abundance of freight it wont be for long. They will bring even more Zimbabwe Somali Nigerians over here to haul their freight for CHEAP.
