Hey y'all. First time back in a while. I was looking at some of my past posts and noticed all the photos I posted are gone. Tinypic sucks, but thats another story. I was going to repost them but I do not see an edit option on posts. Am I going blind?

Looking through this section of the forum I found this thread (http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...um-information-center/183975-edit-button.html) that spoke to that very topic. In it, the user Admin stated that posts were able to be edited for only a finite amount of time following the initial posting which he believed was 24 hours and offered a reasonable (in my opinion) explanation why that is the case. This may well be your problem.

That is correct, users can edit their posts for 24 hours and then that option goes away. After that if you need a post edited just contact one of the moderators on the site and we edit it for you.

    You have a couple options.

You can create a dummy folder here in your photo album and use us to host your photo's permanently. Also I use ImageShack.us for that very reason. They'll host your photo's indefinitely and not delete them like many of these photo hosting sites will delete them after 6 months or similar.

Like MT said, the mods can help edit posts later.

If you look at the toolbar above your post when you're creating a new post, there is a button that says 'Insert Image' when you put your mouse over it. You can use this button to add an image to your post, and it will automatically be uploaded to the forum server. The image will never be deleted.

Ok gentlemen, I would like to restore the 3 photos. I uploaded them to a solid image host and have those links. I did not see a "photos" folder CondoCruiser mentioned so I have not uploaded them to the board (yet). Whats yer pleasure?

I believe (but please note that I always reserve the right to be wrong) that the technique that CondoCruiser is suggesting is for you to make the pictures part of an album in your profile. The way to accomplish this is as follows:

    1) Look at the top of any page under the heading "Welcome, space cowboy." You will see a hot link titled "My Profile." Click on that link.

    2) On the page that follows, look down the left side for the section titled "Albums." Click on the "Add Album" option.

    3) On the page that follows, supply a suitable title and, optionally, a description. Click on "Save Changes" (lower right corner).

    4) The page should now change to one with the selected album title highlighted and options available to manipulate the album. Click on the "Upload Pictures" option.

    5) You will get a "Manage Attachments" window with an option to "Add Files" (right hand side). Click on that.

    6) Yet another window will come up with options to upload files from either your computer or a website. Since you stated that you had the pictures on a host and had the links, choose the (clickable) website option, provide the requisite URL and click "Upload."

    7) Your album will now have the picture (indefinitely, per CondoCruiser) available for inclusion in posts.

Why is it I can not edit my posts in the highjacking thread under a discussion about everything.

All exactly as you said, done.

Now, as I understand it, a mod has to put the photos back in the original post. Whats the least painful way to go about that?
